Ipswitch, a leading supplier of award-winning Internet productivity software, today announced that sales for IMail Anti-Virus, its all-in-one anti-virus messaging solution, have quickly crossed the million mark since its inception in December of 2001. The company attributes its sales success to the growing need for serious virus protection at a price point appealing to small-to-midsize businesses. In the past quarter alone, 26 percent of new IMail Server customers, which accounted for more than million in 2001 sales, purchased IMail Anti-Virus.

The Radicati Group estimates malicious code will cause more than billion in economic damage in 2002 and more than billion in economic damage by 2006. IMail Anti-Virus combats this statistic by protecting businesses’ e-mail systems and networks from crippling viruses. A majority of IMail AV users are already reporting significant return on investment as a result.

“E-mail is vital to our business communications, meaning any corruption, downtime or disruption is expensive and unacceptable,” said Ron Loveday, MIS/DSL Manager of USCom Telephone, a provider of local service, long distance, data, and Internet via DSL throughout Texas. “We estimate that since its deployment in January 2002, IMail Anti-Virus has prevented 152 viruses from entering our network and protected our 148 users from corrupting the environments of and risking relationships with our current and potential customers, partners and associates. IMail AV has definitely paid for itself.”

Companies from service providers to educational facilities to government organisations use IMail Server and IMail Anti-Virus for their demonstrated versatility, scalability and reliability. “Ipswitch’s IMail Anti-Virus eliminates the danger of our desktop users ‘accidentally’ opening an infected attachment by scanning messages upon receipt,” said Kevin Conde, Technology Coordinator of Sutter County Schools in Yuba City, California.

“Security and return on investment is driving IT spending among our customer base. With the creation of new viruses at an all-time high, the addition of this high-performance, anti-virus tool to our product line was in direct response to the concerns of our customers,” said Brian Landrigan, vice president of sales at Ipswitch. “The phenomenal acceptance and adoption of IMail Anti-Virus speaks directly to the increase of companies’ reliance on e-mail communications and is a contributing factor to Ipswitch’s continued success and profitability.”

IMail Anti-Virus fully integrates with Ipswitch’s IMail Server and is powered by Symantec CarrierScan™ Server, a high performance, scalable, reliable solution to protect against viruses. IMail Anti-Virus provides administrators a powerful all-in-one anti-virus solution that is easy to install and use. Designed to work exclusively with IMail Server, IMail Anti-Virus helps stop dangerous viruses before they make it to an end-user’s e-mail client.
