Princeton Softech’s Archive for Servers 5.0 Delivers High-Speed UNIX Processing Capabilities

Companies can optimise their network facilities and use high-speed UNIX processing capabilities to archive large volumes of relational data stored on the Sun(TM) Solaris UNIX platform using Archive(TM) for Servers 5.0. Archive for Servers 5.0 from Princeton Softech, which is generally available today, supports Sun Microsystems’ Solaris(TM) UNIX operating environment and delivers enhanced support for Microsoft’s SQL Server (TM) 2000. Princeton Softech is a pioneer and leader in active archiving technologies.

“IT organisations are always looking for ways to optimise computing networks that support eBusiness and transaction intensive, customer-facing applications,” said Rich Evans, vice president of enterprise data centre strategies for META Group. “Companies are also searching for solutions to manage the accelerating database growth, characteristic of these applications.”

According to leading IT industry analyst firms IDC Research and Gartner Dataquest, Sun Microsystems leads the worldwide UNIX server market with a revenue share of 54 percent (Gartner Dataquest).

“Princeton Softech is committed to expanding active archiving technology across all platforms to help users worldwide take control of accelerating data growth,” says Lisa Cash, president and CEO of Princeton Softech. “As the UNIX platform with the largest market share, support of Sun Solaris marks the beginning of our effort to support UNIX and our commitment to UNIX users worldwide. We also plan to deliver UNIX processing capabilities for Hewlett Packard’s HP-UXÔ and IBM’s AIXÔ operating systems.”

In addition, processing capabilities for the Sun Solaris platform are now available for Princeton Softech’s Relational Tools™ for Servers 5.0. The new releases of Archive for Servers and Relational Tools for Servers also include enhanced support for Microsoft’s SQL Server 2000. Princeton Softech continues to deliver full-featured support for today’s leading DBMSs, providing the power and flexibility companies need to implement enterprise active archiving and application testing strategies.

About Princeton Softech’s Active Archive Solutions

Princeton Softech’s Active Archive(TM) Solutions for both the mainframe and open systems environments directly address the problem of accelerating database growth and solve the problem for the long term. These solutions safely remove rarely-accessed data from overloaded production databases and save the data to easily managed Archive Files that can be stored on the most cost-effective medium. Users can easily search, browse, and report on archived data and may selectively restore data as needed. As a result, database performance and availability improve and service levels are maintained without the expense of costly capacity upgrades and maintenance.

About Princeton Softech’s Relational Tools

As the demand for more reliable applications increases, application testing is a high priority. The costs associated with downtime and resolving application problems after deployment can be prohibitive. Princeton Softech’s Relational Tools(TM) provide proven capabilities that allow companies to improve the application testing process, reduce costs and achieve faster time to market, without sacrificing quality. The testing process improves, allowing users to quickly and easily migrate, edit, and compare complete subsets of related test data from the most complex relational databases, with 100 percent accuracy. The Relational Tools support the leading DBMSs in both the mainframe and open systems environments, with the potential to deliver a high ROI throughout the application life cycle.
