Commitment to Improving Customer Satisfaction Drives Leading UK Broadband Provider to Deploy Next Generation BroadJump Technology

BroadJump Inc., the leader in broadband software, today announced that NTL has selected BroadJump’s latest software solution, ControlWorks™ Activation Edition, to enable a variety of broadband activation scenarios including qualification, self-installation and multiple ISP selection. With BroadJump's ControlWorks Activation Edition, NTL can leverage the network-based intelligence and server-side flexibility essential to manage the evolving complexities associated with initiating and maintaining broadband service while reducing operational costs.

With more than 250,000 high-speed Internet subscribers, NTL is the largest broadband service provider in the UK. The company began working with BroadJump in January 2002 with the deployment of BroadJump’s installation and subscriber-management solutions. Since then, NTL has recognised a reduction in support calls by 50 percent within the first 30 days after installation as well as a marked improvement overall in customer satisfaction.

Through the implementation of ControlWorks Activation Edition, NTL will be able to evolve its Broadband Internet service offerings to meet the increasing consumer demand for its broadband service.

Increasing industry consolidation and focus on profitability necessitates that service providers like NTL employ cost-effective solutions to solve today’s activation challenges. According to Bill Goodland, director of Internet for NTL: “BroadJump’s ability to quickly deploy its solutions across our network has provided a competitive advantage. We teamed with BroadJump, once again, because NTL has been able to address support issues in a timely manner. And with the new ControlWorks Activation Edition, we will be able to solve the more complex activation scenarios associated with broadband installation and give our subscribers the best support available.”

In addition to basic service qualification and self-installation, ControlWorks Activation Edition will allow NTL to give subscribers a choice between ISPs or to move from one ISP to another. Specifically, NTL can create installation scenarios for each ISP and make changes to an ISP installation process directly from BroadJump’s ControlWorks server. As a result, only one installation CD is needed regardless of the ISP a consumer chooses and the need to reproduce and mail updated CDs is eliminated. This automated process, enabled through additional network intelligence, will decrease the costs associated with CD duplication, inventory, support, deployment and distribution while reducing the number of calls to the customer support centre.

“BroadJump continues to work with leading providers like NTL to ensure our solutions address their most pressing needs and future business opportunities,” said Kenny Van Zant, chief operating officer for BroadJump. “NTL’s selection of ControlWorks Activation Edition is a gratifying example of how BroadJump helps providers exceed current standards for customer service and satisfaction, while meeting the growing challenges of broadband service activation.”
