Igaware, a UK company, has announced the launch of the Igaware Gopher, a multi-functional network server appliance, developed for the SME market.

Igaware has worked in direct partnership with SMEs since 1997, to develop a server that delivers the services crucial for modern small and medium-sized enterprises; managed firewall, Internet gateway, e-mail server, file server, VPN, Intranet server, backup server and virus prevention.

Chris Moore, Technical Director, told us that, "By working with SMEs, we know that conventional networking solutions require a complex combination of hardware and software from a variety of vendors. Each element requires expert configuration and administration and is better suited to large enterprises. The Igaware Gopher was developed to address these concerns."

Tim Sexton, Marketing Director, explained, "The Igaware Gopher enables companies to get off the forced upgrade escalator, as updates and patches are delivered automatically online as soon as they are released. We only have one version to support and end users are always running the latest software. This is key to the security of the Gopher that includes an enterprise class firewall."

The Igaware Gopher is based on a security hardened Linux kernel and is designed for ease of use with little or no administration required. It can work with dial-up, ISDN, leased line and broadband Internet connectivity and is ideal for any organisation looking for a hassle free networking solution.
