Nomadix have appointed the Networks Division of Acal Electronics as distributor for Europe, Middle East and Africa to support rapid growth of the wireless hotspot market. The family of wireless gateways enable the deployment of public access hotspots that provide the user with transparent, seamless and secure connectivity. Security, billing and access control are integrated, enabling hotspots to be deployed quickly and easily.

The family of products is built upon Nomadix’s embedded software mobility solution called the Network Service Engine (NSE), which provides high levels of security, whilst enabling seamless connectivity, including roaming between subnets. The range includes the Hotspot Gateway™ (HSG-25), which provides a turnkey, cost-effective, reliable Internet Access Gateway; the Hospitality Service Gateway™ (HSG-100), designed specifically for small and medium hotels, and the Universal Subscriber Gateway™ (USG™) family for intelligent enterprise, public access, and residential Internet access networks.

Hotspots are currently being deployed in a wide range of locations such as airports, hotels, coffee bars and railway stations, enabling mobile access to the Internet for both business and leisure. Acal offers implementers dedicated technical support to speed deployment, including site surveys and consultancy on interfacing to existing billing systems such as Wireless ISP Roaming (WISPeR) or a hotel’s property management system (PMS).

“The rapidly expanding wireless hotspot market needs gateways that provide a complete set of features, whilst allowing simple and quick installation,” said Nick Hall of Acal Networks. “We are pleased to be able to offer our customers the market-leading range of products from Nomadix.”

“With a potential market of more than 50 million mobile enterprise users worldwide who carry laptop and handheld computers, we needed a strong partner to support the tremendous growth of the wireless hotspot market,” said Harry Stevens, Sales Director EMEA of Nomadix. “Acal’s Networking Division is recognised as experts in the market, and their support will ensure that our customers can rapidly deploy hotspots to meet the growing public demand.”
