Alliance coincides with Whale's launch of one of the first clientless VPN products available in the UK
London, 28th October 2002 - IT solutions and services provider Eurodata Systems, and Whale Communications®, the leading provider of secure web access solutions, today announced the signing of a premier VAR agreement to promote Whale's e-Gap® Remote Access Appliance, a clientless VPN.
"There is a great need in the market for secure remote access technology of this kind and we have a number of pilot installations already in progress with some of our blue chip clients," commented Des Lekerman, Managing Director of Eurodata Systems. "I've been selling world-class security
products successfully for almost five years, and we are seeing a level of interest in Whale's product that equals the interest in today's leading vendors of firewalls and VPNs. Whale's product has a technology depth that competitors will find difficult to match."
Whale's co-founder and president, Daniel Steiner, said "The rapid demand that we are encountering in the UK for our secure clientless VPN solutions has prompted us to officially launch the e-Gap Remote Access Appliance. We are confident that our alliance with Eurodata Systems will leverage both
companies' security and technology strengths in order to bring this award winning solution to UK businesses."
The e-Gap Remote Access Appliance allows remote and mobile users the freedom to access web-based applications such as email, ERP, CRM and HR applications on the corporate network or Intranet without exposing the organisation's data to external security attacks. It does this while offering a user
experience similar to that of working from within the office.
"As the workforce becomes increasingly mobile, the need to access the company's network from home, a hotel or an Internet café without compromising security or increasing the technical support teams workload is becoming essential. Whale's solution will help to make this process
pain-free and accessible," added Des Lekerman.
Whale's combined hardware and software solution is the most secure clientless VPN product available. All communications are encrypted and subjected to strong filtering against predefined rules of what each
application permits. The appliance's architecture physically separates the internal network from the Internet using air gap technology. In this way, all attacks are stopped without being able to reach a company's internal network.
In addition to convenience and the increase in productivity of remote users, the appliance also enables companies to save money over traditional IPSec VPN solutions by eliminating the need for each user to have their own dedicated device with pre-installed client software. According to a recent
study by Cisco Systems, in addition to software costs, IPSec VPN management expenditures alone can run as much as £19 per user per month.
Analysts expect the clientless VPN market - also known as application level or SSL VPNs - to experience rapid growth. Infonetics Research said in a recently released report that the market would see an estimated 143% compounded annual growth with potential revenues of 1 million worldwide
