Established in Britain in 1998 by Rick Siegel following success in the US, OnlineTV.com supplies Internet coverage of concerts, good-will events and genre aligned music festivals on an international basis. It works with such establishments as the ICA, introducing community councils, artists, poets, musicians and their creatives to establish their works. With a business model to sell advertising in multiple sites to support an augmented membership and its live broadcasts. On November 9, 1999 OnlineTV was reported in the Financial Times as being successful in gaining a market in Europe and particularly the UK.
With over 1000 artists represented and some 3000 concerts, festivals, poetry readings, concerts, documentaries on British artists and concerted events. OnlineTV is also a vast collection of UK related info and recent history. Artists whose works appear on OnlineTV receive 70% of all collected royalties. One of its main business plans is to assist artists publish their works and receive rewards.
In September 1999, one Maurice Shaibani changed the name of his company to Online Dot TV Limited, and the company subsequently bought the domain name Online.tv. The company is now trading under the name Online TV at 47-48 New Bond Street, London W1Y 9HA (phone 020 7409000) and operating a web site at http://www.online.tv which the original OnlineTV believes is confusingly similar to Rick Siegel’s original OnlineTV model and may have an impact on its business. The original OnlineTV has approached Maurice Shaibani with its concerns but he has declined to negotiate. Maurice Shaibani’s Online TV is now due to officially launch on 19 November 2002.
The original OnlineTV is therefore issuing this press release to highlight that http://www.online.tv is in no way associated with it or with its websites at http://www.onlinetv.com or http://www.onlinetvuk.com , and to diffuse any confusion which may arise in the minds of the 50,000 people who are paying members of the original OnlineTV and the 3,000,000 monthly visitors.
For an artist, OnlineTV brings your content to you and assists the arts. It is not a charity, but a business. Simply a great idea and in the right place at the right time.
Please help yourself and your OnlineTV musician/artist friends by writing to those who advertise on the http://www.online.tv website and explaining the OnlineTV case and encouraging them to stick with the original OnlineTV.
