NEC Computers (UK) announces the Express5800/180Rc-4 server

RRP From: £9,369

Leading manufacturer, NEC Computers (UK) has launched the latest addition in its award winning range of Express5800 servers, the 180Rc-4. The 180Rc-4 is a highly scaleable, powerful server for rapidly expanding enterprises running computer intensive and critical applications.

“The Express5800/180Rc-4 rack-dense server is the ideal solution for fast-growth companies,” commented Paul Evans, business development director of NEC Computers (UK). “By providing increased scalability and enhanced performance, this new server highlights NEC’s leadership in server technology and our continual drive towards providing comprehensive solutions for all our enterprise customers.”

NEC’s Express5800/180Rc-4 is a rack-optimised 4U architecturally advanced server featuring up to 8 Intel Xeon MP processors (1.4 and 1.5GHz with 512KB L3 cache or 1.6GH/1MB) and a 400MHz Front Side Bus. This new server provides maximum investment protection with a full scalability from 4-way to 8-way inside the chassis and up to 16-way via an external high-speed link. An I/O expansion module is also available to double or triple I/O capacity for optimised expandability.

The 180Rc-4 is based on IBM’s XA-32 chipset enabling 4-way CPU/memory modules to exist on a separate planar thus lowering the total cost of entry. In addition, the NEC 180Rc-4 provides up to 32GB of SDRAM for the most memory-intensive environments and includes 2 internal hot-swap hard disk drives, 6 hot-plug PCI-X slots, redundant hot-swap power supplies and redundant hot-swap cooling fans.

As standard the Express5800/180Rc-4 ships with the ESMPRO Management Suite with integrated Management Workstation Application (MWA). This built-in solution provides remote emergency access and control of server resources (via LAN or standard modem connection). The ESMPRO Management Suite facilitates quick response to critical issues and provides tools for proactive planning and server administration, reducing the risk of downtime or failure. The ExpressBuilder set-up and configuration software also comes with both of these servers for easy and comprehensive system installation.
