London 2nd December 2002. Reqio, the UK based Product Content Management company signed a five-year deal today with NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (NHS PASA) to modernise its procurement catalogue system.

With more than 1800 contracted suppliers contributing 1/2 a million individual product lines, the Agency generates and disseminates 3300 CD’s every month to around 400 NHS trusts and health authorities in England. In January 2002 a decision was made to replace the existing catalogue system with a web-enabled solution to improve the catalogue service provided to the NHS.

The Agency built a business case for change, which was approved by the NHS PASA board in March of this year.

Eric Jackson, Director of eCommerce at NHS PASA said, “This was an important decision for us and represents a step towards our future strategy for implementing a national eProcurement system for the NHS. We are confident we have chosen a technology platform that will enable us to achieve our objectives effectively and efficiently.”

Out of 128 responses to the initial request for information a shortlist of 79 vendors expressed an interest, from this NHS PASA received 34 firm proposals. A team of procurement and technical experts carried out a full appraisal of each vendor’s ability to meet the criteria, and due diligence was subsequently carried out on the serious contenders.

Stewart Holness, CEO of Reqio said, “We are naturally delighted to have been awarded this important contract, it is an endorsement of our technology, expertise and continued market leadership in this domain.”

Online product data is a business enabler that goes far beyond supporting a customer’s procurement initiative. Reqio’s eCatalogue solution will empower the individual - from the supplier who will maintain its individual product lines, to the NHS PASA teams of catalogue and contract managers where processes will be improved, to the purchasing managers within the health services who will have quick and easy access to real-time product information that is accurate and rich in content.

NHS PASA expects phase one of the system to go live in April 2003.
