TELE3 TZX Protects Businesses and Telecommuters With Trusted Zone

London, UK – December 9, 2002 – Broadening its family of Internet security solutions for remote access users, SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL), the leading provider of comprehensive Internet security solutions, today announced the TELE3 TZX. An Internet security appliance featuring an integrated, auto-sensing and auto correcting 4-port MDIX switch, the TELE3 TZX creates a “trusted zone” between the corporate office and a telecommuter’s home network. Harmful intrusions and viruses cannot traverse the home network to the corporate network, and in-home users cannot access the corporate network from home computers sharing a broadband connection.

With the growth in broadband spurring an increase in home networking, many telecommuters now share a broadband connection with other household members. While telecommuters are using secure VPN tunnels to access the corporate network, networked family members could inadvertently open up highly vulnerable ports on their own computers through online activities, creating "back doors" and exposing headquarter networks to hackers, viruses, Trojan Horses, and worms.

“Some of our customers are hesitant to roll out telecommuting programs due to the significant security risks that telecommuters and their families present to the corporate network,” said Harry Gostling, SonicWALL’s UK country manager. “The TELE3 TZX removes these risks by physically isolating the telecommuter’s work system from other systems sharing a broadband connection at home. It’s an ideal solution for telecommuting deployments of all sizes.”

A WorkPort built into the TELE3 TZX isolates a telecommuter’s IPSec VPN and secures the corporate connections with a stateful packet inspection firewall. A HomePort featuring an integrated 4-port MDIX switch, extends stateful packet inspection firewall protection to networked family computers and devices sharing the broadband connection, while isolating the home network from the telecommuter’s WorkPort.

The TELE3 TZX delivers additional layers of protection with SonicWALL integrated security applications including auto-enforced Network Anti-Virus, Content Filtering and firewall security policies. Every TELE3 TZX on the corporate network can be easily managed from a central location with SonicWALL Global Management System (GMS), a management console for provisioning and enforcing security policies across the corporate network.

The TELE3 TZX is an integrated security solution that features the following:

Trusted Zone

The TELE3 TZX creates an independent, isolated zone of trusted network security, protecting corporate networks from malicious attacks that can occur when telecommuters share broadband Internet access with networked home computers.

Integrated 4-Port MDIX Switch

Allows multiple family home computers to connect to the HomePort. Automatically and transparently detects and corrects incorrectly wired cables such as cross-over cables, making network installation simpler and less expensive.

Integrated Security

All-in-one security appliance including hardened, stateful packet inspection firewall, IPSec VPN and integrated support for auto-enforced and updated Network Anti-Virus, Content Filtering and Rapid E-mail Attachment Blocking.

SonicWALL Telecommuting Solutions
