London, December 11th, 2002 - Intec Telecom Systems today announced that Tennessee-based United Telephone Company has become its first customer to license all of Intec’s North American flagship products: Inter-mediatE™, a real-time convergent mediation platform; Inter-activatE™, a flow-through service activation solution; and InterconnecT™ CABS CG, a carrier accessing billing solution.

Office and data processing manager for United, Tommy Welch, attended the 2002 Intec User Group Conference in Atlanta, Georgia for its InterconnecT CABS CG and Inter-mediatE products. “We were very impressed by the Inter-activatE demonstration we saw during Intec’s User Group Conference as well as Intec’s continued support of research and development for its products,” says Welch. “We chose Inter-activatE based on its ability to streamline business processes, simplify new service implementation and improve timeliness,” he adds.

“Having United extend our relationship to mediation and service activation products demonstrates our ability to provide our customers with world-class OSS solutions which offer improved efficiency, flexibility and scalability,” says Fred Brott, Intec’s president and managing director for North America. “Using Inter-mediatE and Inter-activatE, United will be able to automatically activate services, capture additional revenue and stop revenue leakage, giving them an immediate return on investment,” adds Brott.

United will upgrade its existing mediation system to accommodate its expected 80 percent growth over the next seven years and to gain tighter control of the records being processed. Inter-mediatE will collect Extended Bellcore AMA Format (EBAF) and Call Detail Records (CDRs) from the network, and then validate, filter, and check the data for errors. The platform will then guide the AMA Structure Code and Call Code variations that require transformation into EMI (Exchange Message Interface) records for output to downstream system that include Intec’s InterconnecT CABS CG billing system.

By implementing Inter-activatE, United can automatically provision services and special features including long distance, Voice Mail, Caller ID, Call Waiting and Three-way Calling more efficiently. Inter-activatE will also free United’s switch technicians to perform more mission critical tasks which will improve their operational efficiencies.

“We have a strong working relationship with Intec,” says Welch. “Intec offers world-class, market-leading solutions and has a proven track record. Intec’s investment in users and research and development shows me that Intec is stable and growing – just like United,” he concludes.
