WebFOCUS to Deliver Business Analytics to 700 users across 20 European Countries

London, UK – 18 December 2002 – Information Builders, leader in business intelligence excelling in real-time information delivery over the Web, today announced that Eurodis Electron, the third largest electronic component distributor in Europe, has selected WebFOCUS as its pan European business intelligence reporting tool.

As a major electronic component distributor, Eurodis Electron offers an extensive product range and a variety of technical services to over 25,000 electronic equipment manufacturers and commercial customers in Europe. Eurodis Electron is deploying WebFOCUS to gain accurate and timely information on sales, margin and inventory. WebFOCUS will also be used to identify trends for business analysis and taking the organisation forward.

WebFOCUS will be installed at Eurodis Electron’s UK headquarters in Reigate and then rolled out to 700 users, from purchase and sales managers through to senior management, based in 20 different European countries. The Eurodis Election Group carries approximately €100m of inventory in its Dutch logistics centre, comprising 150,000 distinct component types. Warehouse staff are currently responsible for around a million line shipments per year to customers.

“The main driver for putting in place a business intelligence solution is that each of our Group companies has tended to develop their own reporting and analysis tools, and we urgently require a unified view of our business across Europe in order to maximise efficiencies and economies of scale.” said Philip Harrison, General Manager Group IT at Eurodis Electron. “It was also essential that the chosen solution was highly scalable in order to accommodate our expected significant future growth. We were impressed with WebFOCUS and felt a synergy with the Information Builders team.”

Jim Irving, Information Builders UK Managing Director, “Business intelligence is a valuable company asset, which enables companies to make strategic business decisions based on real-time company wide information. This is even more applicable in an unstable economic environment. Eurodis Electron shows a clear and powerful vision by implementing such a tool. The analytics that WebFOCUS provides will enable the company to assess the performance of its business in its entirety and make adjustments where it is needed.”
