London, 30 December 2002: iRevolution, (IREV), an integrated software solutions provider and the developers behind KnowledgeDesk, an information and client management software system, is pleased to announce the first portal partner of KnowledgeDesk – the recently launched Food and Drink Information Centre website

KnowledgeDesk was originally designed and developed by iRevolution in partnership with the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and Business Link, to suit their very specific information management needs. Since then, the knowledge management elements of the solution have been tailored and evolved to provide the necessary knowledge infrastructure behind the Food and Drink Information Centre portal.

Jilly Goolden, wine expert and co-presenter of BBC 2’s popular ‘Food & Drink’ programme, officially opened the portal on 12 December. The portal is being provided by Advantage West Midlands, hosted by Business Link Herefordshire & Worcestershire and has been developed by iRevolution to meet the needs of the food and drink industry across the West Midlands. It provides a one-stop-shop source of information free of charge on any and all food and drink related issues. Information and/or enquiries will be managed via the website or via a fully manned telephone hotline.

Eamus Halpin, CEO, iRevolution, comments, “We’ve been providing IT software and services to the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and Business Link since 1999 on an outsourced basis, whereby we host the Chamber’s entire IT requirements, delivering these via the Internet on a pay per use basis.”

He continued, “KnowledgeDesk was designed by us in partnership with the Chamber and forms the very heart of the Chamber’s IT infrastructure. It was natural therefore that this already proven product should be ‘extended’ to meet the needs of the food and drink website.”

KnowledgeDesk is now commercially available from iRevolution to manage the information needs of any Chamber of Commerce, Business Link or Development Agency nationwide. The Portal is also being marketed for implementation in any industry specific web based service that requires a proven information management ‘engine’ behind it.
