A Common Sense Approach to Business Continuity Networks for Business 2003, 24-26 June, 2003 Birmingham NEC, UK

London, 7th January, 2003. Following a Government report into the management of risk(1) that advises the public sector to prepare for the unexpected, Networks for Business 2003 invites businesses to carefully consider their own preparations. Taking place from 24-26 June 2003 at the Birmingham NEC, Networks for Business 2003, the UK's only networking infrastructure event will feature a dedicated Business Continuity Zone, sponsored by GemaTech.

"Planning for business continuity is key-critical for businesses today," explains Jane Murphy, Networks for Business 2003 Portfolio Director. "In the event of a disaster, communication is crucial and customer-facing, partner-facing and internal communications are all part of the IT managers remit. Planning for Business Continuity doesn't have to cost a great deal of money. The Business Continuity Zone will offer advice and information on cost-effective contingency planning and allow visitors to explore the products & services available to ensure that their business is best prepared to survive the event of any disaster, be it fire, flood, fuel crisis, etc."

Graham Chick, Managing Director Of GemaTech comments: "In our opinion, there has been a crying need for an exhibition to cover business continuity, in order to dispel the myths of what is needed to successfully plan and budget for business interruption. We are delighted to be a founder member of this Zone, which will enable us to draw on our experience and knowledge to both educate and emphasise the most important part of any contingency plan ... protecting and maintaining your communications."

The Business Continuity Zone has the support of leading industry suppliers including, BT Commsure, Cable & Wireless, Synstar, KPMG, Echelon, HP, Comms Room Services and the publication Corporate Insurance & Risk.

The subject of Business Continuity will also be discussed in The Hub, with a presentation given by John Sharp, Chief Executive of the Business Continuity Institute. Allowing visitors to discover the latest advice from the institute that sets the highest standards of professional competence and commercial ethics in the provision and maintenance of business continuity planning and services.

A Question Time session will allow visitors to learn from leading experts how to take ownership of business continuity. By accepting prepared questions, Question Time will break down the issues so that visitors can understand why they need to plan for business as usual.
