London, 15 January 2003. The latest Geographic Information (GI) products & services for the public sector and public service will be launched & demonstrated at GeoNorth 2003. GeoNorth 2003 will take place on 18 March 2003 at New Century House, Manchester, UK. It is a one-day launch showcase and seminar programme that will feature information & advice for strategists, practitioners and purchasers within government and the public service.

“By attending GeoNorth 2003, public sector and public service professionals will be able to assess first hand a wide variety of GI solutions at one time. Just some of the planned exhibitor launches and demonstrations will include:

Art Systems: Demonstrating the HP Designjet range of wide format inkjet printers.

Cadcorp: Demonstrating Cadcorp SIS (Spatial Information System).
A suite of Windows-based and web-enabled end user and developer digital mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) software products.

Conesstoga-Rovers & Associates: Demonstrating the new ArcGIS version of CLARA and e: DAT.
CLARA (Contaminated Land Risk Assessment) software is a GIS compatible, risk assessment package specifically designed to help Local Authorities manage their responsibilities under Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act (1990).

e:DAT is an electronic data management tool that uses GIS and database management structures to produce a stand alone tool for visualising, querying and displaying environmental data.

Getmapping: Demonstrating,

New super high resolution aerial photography of major UK cities and towns available over the web,

Churchill’s Map, a historic post-war aerial photography archive completed for selected cities,

Aerial photography of Scotland as part of the ongoing digital Millennium Map project which is already complete throughout England and Wales,

Enhanced ImageXpress Internet service.

HandyGIS: Demonstrating a full range of complimentary MapInfo based spatial solutions that range from enterprise wide Internet and Intranet, low cost server and desktop map production with ProPrinter, through to its Handheld Pocket PC offering.

Hopewiser: Demonstrating the ATLAS Suite including,

ATLAS CAPTURE: Address capture tool,

ATLAS BATCH: Provides both batch and interactive processing for address verification, correction and enhancement,

ATLAS DEDUPE: Identifies and removes duplicate records from up to 10 different databases simultaneously,

ATLAS CONVERT: Enables data to be transferred from one format to another, detecting and correcting any data transfer errors,

ATLAS LABEL: Produces a user defined label direct from a database, &

ATLAS LIST:- Enables the generation of address lists from a postcode or partial postcode and town.

Innogistic Software: Demonstrating,

Desktop and Explorer versions of Cartology, their flagship GIS software, &

FastSTRETCH; software to adjust captured information in accordance with the Ordnance Survey PAI program.

The UK Hydrographic Office: Demonstrating digital data that the UKHO can contribute towards collaborative ventures and/or through its licensed partnering initiative.

Landmark Government: Demonstrating,

RMSI GIS and Spatial Solutions: working with its offshore partner, RMSI, who are specialists in software development, digitising and combining maps, geocoding, satellite imagery, aerial photographs and survey data,

Historical Map and Land Use Data: The map data was created jointly with OS and covers the whole of mainland Britain,

Promap: Offer Pan Government Agreement (PGA) participants low-cost access to detailed OS mapping, through its web-based Promap software –

Bulk Data sets: A range of location based bulk datasets, all accurately geocoded to the National Grid, including petrol station data, points of interest data and planning applications.

MapInfo in association with partners CDR, Dotted Eyes, GDC & MVM:

Demonstrating NEW solutions including,

MapInfo Discovery – a user-friendly tool that enables users to publish work directly from desktop mapping GIS - MapInfo Professional - out to the intranet or the internet, and

MapInfo Professional for SQL Server – solution enabling users to store, manipulate, manage & share essential map data alongside attribute data in one central location which allows multi-user access, simultaneous editing.

Ordnance Survey: Providing an update on the Pilot Pan-government agreement (PPGA), which has been running since April 2002, as well as promoting the Pan-government agreement (PGA) which is due to be launched in April 2003.

SIA Ltd: Launching,

dataMAP Statistical Analysis Module, to complement its expanding dataMAP GIS product portfolio.
Demonstrating its dataMAP suite of GIS software.

Includes dataMAP V3.0, dataMAP Web Browser, dataMAP Statistical Analysis module, OS MasterMap processing, routing software, rectification of scanned images to fit vector maps, and

Niche applications and links to partner products are available for sectors including housing, local government, lighting management and local education authorities.

Simmons Aerofilms: Demonstrating aerial photography and 3D visulisation for emergency planning and the blue light services.

3D imagery and fully functional Command and Control system including digital mapping for the 2003 Glastonbury Festival. The project has received full support form Avon & Somerset Police, West Country Ambulance Service and Somerset Fire brigade, and County wide archive datasets produced for local government.

Survey Suppliers: Demonstrating two new products for GIS data collection / mapping.

The Trimble GeoExplorer CE, a handheld combined GPS and Windows CE device with sub metre accuracy achievable and FastMAP CE, the latest version of Survey Supplies’ market leading data capture software which runs on the new Trimble GeoExplorer and other Windows CE devices. A key feature of this software is the handling OS MasterMap data in the field.

Promoting the newly launched FastMAP Office software, a PC based system that allows office staff and field data collectors to seamlessly work as one.

TENET ITMapping: Demonstrating a range of applications based upon the MapLink Enterprise architecture showing e-enabled applications.

Property management, logistics and scheduling and environmental monitoring will be exhibited, exploiting a range of OS data sets including MasterMap, LandLine, Meridian 2, Strategii together with a selection of raster products.

TerraQuest Group: Demonstrating its Consultancy and Data Management Services.

Consultancy: GIS and LPG Consultancy, Requirements Specification, Information Management Strategy and Planning Systems Specification and Procurement, Project Management, e-Government Consultancy, Process and Data Management and System Integration.

Data Management including Creation of BS7666 Compliant Data, Conversion of paper and film records to digital datasets, Data cleansing and migration to MasterMap, PAI data rectification data quality management and Audit data management and maintenance.

UNIGIS: Provides a professional qualification in GIS that is at the Postgraduate Diploma/MSc level. It operates by distance learning in order to be accessible by professionals in employment. The curriculum focuses on the needs of managers, team leaders and project managers in GIS by emphasising design and management issues.

Along with the exhibitor showcase, GeoNorth 2003 will feature a seminar programme specifically designed to offer information & advice to Geographic Information (GI) strategists, practitioners and purchasers within local, regional & central government and the emergency services.
