London / Paris – 23rd January, 2003 -The Storage Networking Industry Association Europe (SNIA-E), dedicated to delivering storage networking architectures, education, and solutions for the IT community, has become more accessible across Europe. The SNIA-E has created two new committees, one for The Netherlands lead by Erwin Versleijen and one for Belgium & Luxembourg lead by Frank Ternest.

Daniel Sazbon, SNIA Europe Vice Chairman, says “SNIA Europe is expanding its geographical presence in Belgium, Luxembourg and The Netherlands, representing both vendors and end-users and showing the growing importance of storage networks across Europe”.

Through the work of regional committees, the SNIA-E aims to promote storage networking and deliver education and information to the widest possible audience.

Michel Grosbost, SNIA Europe Chairman, commented: “SNIA Europe is currently focussing on developing new end-user groups to gain from their combined experience in deploying and using storage networks. These groups will concentrate on the infrastructure of storage networks including Fibre Channel and IP storage as well as specific usage areas such as back-up and recovery, business continuance and virtualisation.” Michel continued: “We expect the newly formed groups to enrich and complement the existing committees in the UK, France and Germany.”

The Dutch and Belgian committees will promote SNIA storage education and certification, support local storage networking industry events and participate in speaking engagements. They will work with IT vendor, channel and end user communities.

The first SNIA-E Netherlands meeting is planned for early March 2003 and the committee will also be attending Storage Networking World Cannes 2003 with members of the Dutch storage community. For more information, email
