Leading international airport company, BAA plc, today launches wireless internet connection at its UK airports, in partnership with BT Openzone.

The public wireless LAN hotspots will initially be available at Gatwick North and will be extended shortly to the passengers who use the international departure lounges of Heathrow terminal one, Stansted Airport and Aberdeen Airport. There will be a further roll out of hotspots across other BAA terminals in due course.

Brian Collie, BAA’s Group Retail Director, said “We welcome this strategic initiative with BT and feel sure it will prove invaluable for customers travelling through our airports.”

BT Openzone provides access to the internet and the ability to get secure and fast network connection while working away at the airports. Passengers will be able to send and receive large quantities of information at broadband speed. They will need to be within the Openzones which will be badged with the BT Openzone logo.
