Surrey-based IP solutions provider Vodat Solutions has entered into a partnership with IP support specialists ANS to provide enhanced support services to customers of the company’s Managed Services offering. The new arrangement will enable Vodat customers to log faults and monitor their status online via the company’s Web site at http://www.vodat.co.uk and have over 95% of faults resolved remotely without the need for an engineer site visit. Vodat’s internal support team will be supplemented by ANS’s network of IP engineers throughout the UK and Ireland to provide customers with additional end-to-end support, from deployment of their converged voice and data networks to ongoing maintenance.

The online support arrangement will enable customers to log onto a secure, password-protected Customer Area on Vodat’s Web site to view contract details, report faults and track their status from any location in real time at any time of day. The service is flexible in that customers can choose to view all faults logged overall by their organisation or individually by multiple sites if required. The majority of service issues will be resolved remotely but Vodat’s own support team is now backed by ANS’s nationwide network of IP engineers to ensure any site visit required, anywhere in the UK, is undertaken rapidly.

This latest Web-based support service is part of Vodat’s rapidly expanding portfolio of e-enabled customer services, and follows hot on the heels of last month’s announcement that customers can view their bills and detailed management information online. As with this online billing service resellers of Vodat’s Managed Service will be able to offer both the extended support and online fault logging as fully re-badged services from their own Web sites, with customers being seamlessly directed to dedicated Web pages in the reseller’s corporate branding.

The Vodat Managed Service grew from strength to strength during 2002, with the company winning major customers such as Timberwise and construction group Willmott-Dixon, for whom Vodat is rolling out the service to 100 sites in 2003. It enables companies to implement a converged voice and data network that Vodat manages remotely on their behalf for a low-cost, fixed monthly fee, removing the need for up-front investment in PBX systems, dedicated equipment or cabling and recabling of offices.

As well as dramatically reducing telephony costs – UK calls via Vodat cost just 2.5p per minute – the Vodat Managed Service is estimated to cut network infrastructure costs by as much as 60%. Providing companies with unlimited broadband access to email and the Internet companies can also choose to plug in applications such as voicemail, unified messaging, conference calling and video over IP as and when they choose, and add remote workers to the virtual network from just £20 per user.
