Dual Band WLAN Pioneer Opens New European Design Centre and Sales/Support Organizations in Asia and US
6 February 2003 -- Reading, UK -- Synad, the fabless WLAN System-on-Chip (SoC) company, today announced an international expansion programme with new offices in Asia, Europe and the US.
Synad has moved into a new headquarters and engineering facility in Reading UK. The 10,000sq. ft. facility houses Synad’s management team, product development teams as well as European sales and support staff.
Synad has strengthened it worldwide presence and commitment to customers in Asia and the US, with the opening of two new offices in Taipei, Taiwan and Irvine, California. These facilities will provide local marketing, sales and application engineering support in each region.
"Radio licensing authorities around the world are releasing both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrum to facilitate the emergence of IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b and the draft IEEE 802.11g, as global standards, and the volumes of product shipments we're seeing shows that the WLAN market is undoubtedly global. It is important therefore that WLAN vendors take an international approach to sales, marketing and engineering support," said Allen Nogee, Senior Analyst, In-Stat/MDR.
The international rollout comes as Synad completes its Mercury5G dual band WLAN solution that enables roaming and connectivity across 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks. Mercury5G delivers connectivity and interoperability between 802.11a, 802.11b and the draft 802.11g standards.
“Synad has been heavily focused on developing Mercury5G over these last few months. We are now building an international infrastructure to meet our customer requirements. Whilst Synad’s research and development effort is driven out of Europe, demand for our product is worldwide. Our new international facilities will enable us to deliver the sales service and support our customers expect,” said Mike Baker, CEO, Synad.
Synad is a fabless semiconductor company that develops products to deliver seamless connectivity in the wireless local area network (WLAN) environment based on its core competences in RF CMOS, system and software design. Its first product is Mercury5G, a highly innovative two chip dual band solution that delivers connectivity and interoperability between 802.11a, 802.11b and the draft 802.11g standards. Synad is driving wireless industry standards worldwide through active participation in IEEE 802.11 Task Groups and the Wi-Fi Alliance. For further information check: http://www.synad.com
