eHealth Suite supports industrys first automated QoS Solution developed to reduce operating costs for telcos, service providers and enterprises

MARLBORO, Mass., February 18, 2003 Concord Communications (Nasdaq: CCRD) today announced that Concords eHealth Suite, an end-to-end infrastructure management solution, supports Cisco AutoQoS. Launched on January 27th, AutoQoS represents an automated end-to-end quality of service (QoS) solution that addresses both LAN and WAN QoS. Cisco AutoQoS minimises the challenges associated with configuring and prioritising the flow of data, voice and video across the network. Cisco AutoQoS simplifies QoS deployments, and can thereby reduce the operating expenses and accelerate time to deploy. The complementary business and technology offerings of Cisco and Concord are evidenced by the ability of AutoQoS to automatically provide QoS to the applications on the network, and the eHealth Suites strength in managing it. The initial delivery of Cisco AutoQoS focuses on QoS for Voice over IP on the LAN and WAN.

Organisations powered by Cisco networks can leverage the Concord eHealth Suites infrastructure management solution and AutoQoS to accelerate and more easily implement productivity-enhancing applications such as VoIP. The eHealth Suite is designed to protect customer revenues and reduce costs by enhancing the IT infrastructure through proactive management. This enables greater network performance, and the ability to view and assess how application prioritisation is affecting QoS.

The value of QoS in improving network performance, prioritising traffic and supporting advanced services such as VoIP is widely known. However, the widespread adoption of QoS has been hindered due to the fact that it is a costly, labor intensive process requiring specialized skills, said Brian Burba, vice president, market and partner development, Concord. With Cisco AutoQoS, enterprises, service providers, and telcos can now automatically deploy QoS, resulting in greater customer satisfaction and significant cost savings.

Cisco AutoQoS is designed to allow enterprise customers lacking staff and resources to quickly, easily and automatically implement QoS. For service providers, Cisco AutoQoS can deliver time and cost savings by providing an automated process for evaluating QoS policies on hundreds to thousands of customer premise devices as part of their managed service offerings, while further helping to ensure the network infrastructure adheres to customer requirements.

Concords end-to-end infrastructure management solution enables large organisations and telcos to improve their bottom line through increased network efficiencies, said Amir Khan, director, Product Marketing, Internet Technologies Division at Cisco Systems. Concords customers with Cisco-powered networks can differentiate their services and gain competitive advantage through AutoQoSs ability to deliver overall improved network performance while also supporting enhanced services such as VoIP.
