London, UK – February 24, 2003 – SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL), a leader in comprehensive Internet security solutions, today announced a contract to supply BT with products from its market leading range of firewall appliances. The SonicWALL products will form BT’s entry-level firewall offering to its web hosting customers.

BT will deploy three appliances from the SonicWALL range - SOHO3, PRO 330 and GX 250 – which will perform a variety of functions. Some will form a second line of defence between a customer’s private network and their hosted solution within the Internet data centre. Others will be used as extra protection between a customer’s web server and their database server. Customers will also have the option to choose a SonicWALL as their front-end firewall between a web server or database cluster and the Internet. On occasion, a SonicWALL unit may also be used in a masking capacity behind a customer’s existing firewall for additional security.

“The hosting market has changed dramatically in the past twelve to eighteen months but security remains top of business’ priority lists,” said Andy Weller, product manager for applications hosting at BT Ignite, BT’s business services and solutions division. “The addition of SonicWALL’s entry-level firewalls into our hosting portfolio strengthens our security offering and enables us to offer customers greater choice.”

“Today’s announcement is formal recognition for what we have achieved in conjunction with our partners Fairbridge Communications and Tekdata over the past year,” said Harry Gostling, UK country manager at SonicWALL. “We are thrilled to be joining the BT product portfolio as the firewall of choice for the more budget conscious content hosting customers.”

Management and reporting for the SonicWALL units will be provided by Harrogate-based network integrator Fairbridge Communications. Services associated with the firewall, such as configuration, PKI authentication, detecting and responding to intrusions will be provided remotely using Global Management System (GMS), SonicWALL’s remote management platform.

“For two years Fairbridge has provided BT with its managed SonicWALL Firewall Service on an adhoc basis, said Mark Carver, Services Director for Fairbridge Communications. We are delighted that this relationship has been extended, and look forward to managing, monitoring and reporting on BT’s firewalls on a contractual basis.

“This is an exciting contract for Fairbridge,” he added, “which further enhances our reputation as a SonicWALL Gold Medallion Partner and for our SonicWALL managed firewalls services offering. To have someone of BT’s calibre and standing using our services has obvious benefits.”
