New Oracle ExpertONLINE Service Cuts Database Costs and Complexity, Boosts
Manageability for Oracle Shops of All Sizes

Oracle has announced immediate availability of Oracle ExpertONLINE, a new
service and support offering from Oracle Support Services, one of the top
three suppliers of IT support services world-wide. ExpertONLINE provides
every Oracle shop with a low-cost, high-tech way to outsource some or all
of their database administration needs to the industry's most knowledgeable
Oracle experts: Oracle Support Services.

Oracle's new ExpertONLINE service provides customers two levels of
automated remote support, both of which have been carefully designed by
Oracle Support Services to reduce overhead and training costs, improve
return on investment, and free DBAs from routine Oracle8i, Oracle8, and
Oracle7 database management chores.

ExpertDBA is like having the industry's most experienced DBA on staff and
on call 24 hours a day. A complete database management solution, Oracle
ExpertDBA gives Oracle shops remote monitoring of their Oracle systems,
including quality of service (QOS), event status reporting, diagnosis,
backup and recovery, data control, database user setup and security,
capacity planning, fault management, and more. Oracle ExpertDBA can serve
as an entire virtual DBA staff, or can be used to quickly and easily fill
DBA gaps in the IT talent pool.

ExpertDETECT is the easiest way for customers to automatically assess the
health and management state of complex database information systems. A
cost-effective QOS supplement for overworked DBAs or short-staffed shops,
Oracle ExpertDETECT continuously examines the state of the overall
computing environment, and quickly identifies performance bottlenecks,
reliability concerns, and capacity issues. Oracle Support Services can
then proactively recommend measures to speed performance, boost
availability, and improve the overall health of the database.

Oracle ExpertONLINE Lowers Costs and Boosts Manageability
Oracle ExpertONLINE lowers the boom on runaway information systems
management costs, allowing large and small customers to outsource some or
all of their database management needs for less than the cost of hiring an
accomplished DBA. In addition to immediate cost savings, Oracle
ExpertONLINE helps IT shops raise the bar for database reliability,
availability, and performance, by leveraging the unmatched knowledge and
experience of Oracle Support Services.

"ExpertONLINE takes full advantage of Oracle?s proven remote administration
capabilities to give any IT shop the ability to outsource their database
management needs and lower maintenance costs," said Randy Baker, executive
vice president, Oracle Education and Support Services at Oracle Corp. "For
the past 20 years, Oracle Support Services has helped customers and
partners get maximum performance and value from their Oracle information
systems. Our ExpertONLINE service extends that tradition, and will play a
major role in the future of outsourcing."

IT Executives and Industry Analysts Laud Oracle ExpertONLINE
IT leaders say the ability to quickly outsource their database management
requirements is a huge boon to DBA staffs run ragged by the critical
shortage of qualified information systems talent.

"Our DBAs and I could have performed the same services that the Oracle
ExpertONLINE program provided, but performing these functions would have
diverted our attention from the more strategic planning work we do for
PSS." said Scott Shober, director of technical support for PSS World
Medical, Inc. of Jacksonville, FL. "If our DBAs had to perform the
day-to-day monitoring tasks that ExpertDETECT provides, they would not have
had time to focus on tuning our server for optimal performance."

"The market demand for well-trained, experienced technical personnel is
growing faster than the available workforce," said Al Hahn, president of
Hahn Consulting, a Portland-based, IT services marketing consulting firm.
"Oracle's ExpertONLINE support offerings will bring cost-effective,
technical expertise directly to the customer, freeing up in-house DBAs to
address other, more critical system requirements."

Pricing and Availability
Oracle ExpertONLINE is available now to U.S. and Canadian customers running
supported versions of the Oracle database (version 7.3.3 and higher), and
will thereafter be made available worldwide on a country-by-country basis.
Oracle ExpertONLINE supports Oracle8i, Oracle8 and Oracle7.
