Automated Policy Provisioning in New Global VPN Client Reduces Support Burden and Increases Manageability for VPN Deployments

London, UK – March 5, 2003 – SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL) a leading provider of comprehensive Internet security solutions, today set a new standard in ease-of-use with the announcement of its Global VPN Client software. Specifically engineered to integrate with SonicWALL security appliances for a complete remote access solution, the Global VPN Client features ‘automatic’ VPN connection configuration and gateway level management capabilities. Small- and medium-sized businesses that have avoided complex VPN rollouts in the past now have an easy-to-configure and easy-to-manage remote access solution with the Global VPN Client.

The SonicWALL Global VPN Client improves the productivity of mobile workers, giving them flexible, secure access to the corporate network from any location and over any IP network environment. Unlike existing VPN client solutions that are cumbersome to deploy and manage, the Global VPN Client’s automated policy provisioning capability makes the setup process transparent for end users and eases the support burden on network administrators.

SonicWALL's innovative automated policy provisioning capability means that IT administrators can maintain and update group security policies in response to changing business requirements, yet not have to manually distribute security policy changes to end users. Instead, SonicWALL gateways automatically authenticate each user when they attempt to initiate a VPN session and then distribute an encrypted security policy to each user. Unauthorized users are locked out while authenticated users receive immediate access through a secure VPN using only the most up-to-date security policy. This innovative system substantially reduces administrator labor, lowers support calls and eliminates user configuration mistakes, making the SonicWALL solution an efficient and economical way to create group VPNs.

“This Global VPN Client enhances SonicWALL’s remote access solution,” said Douglas Brockett, SonicWALL vice president of worldwide marketing. “Tight integration of our hardware security appliances with the Global VPN Client software results in a secure, remote access solution that is reliable, simple to deploy and one of the industry’s easiest to use.”

“The complexity of previous VPN client solutions available and the difficulties in managing them had discouraged us from offering VPN connectivity to our mobile workers,” said David Guaraldi, senior new technology specialist at Cognex Corporation, the world’s leading supplier of machine vision systems. “The SonicWALL Global VPN client is by far the easiest to install and manage of any that we’ve used. Its intuitive user interface and self-configuring capability gets our end-users immediately connected, and the easy remote management of the VPN Client at the gateway level eases the burden on our network administrators.”

SonicWALL Global VPN Client features include:

· Simple Client Policy Provisioning – Automatically downloads the user’s VPN client configuration from the gateway at time of connection

· VPN Session Reliability – Supports multiple VPN gateways to ensure mission-critical network access is maintained in the event the primary gateway becomes unavailable

· NAT-Traversal Support – Increases network address flexibility by allowing IPSec VPN traffic to pass through any IP network using Network Address Translation (NAT)

· GMS Management – SonicWALL’s award-winning Global Management System manages the interaction between the gateway and client connections
