TravelPlus, the UK’s leading business travel magazine, has selected the Palm Tungsten T palmtop computer as the Editor’s Choice in its 2003 Techno Test of handheld computers. Palm once more becomes the preferred choice of the magazine, having been Editor’s Choice in both 2000 and 2001. The Fujitsu Siemens Pocket Loox was acclaimed as the outstanding model under test in the 2002 review.
The annual palmtop review by Tom Dunmore gives the Palm Tungsten T a five star rating, describing it as a ‘great leap forward’ by Palm. The processor, Tom Dunmore points out, is five times faster than any previous Palm model. This new palmtop is simple to use, and with its new hi-res screen and tiny slide-open case, is the ‘easiest on the eye.’ Its inclusion of Bluetooth wireless technology makes it simple to link to a mobile phone and to pick up e-mails, and the voice recorder feature is regarded as a useful extra feature.
The 2003 Techno Test compares five of the latest palmtops on the market: the Palm TungstenT, budget-priced Palm Zire, Compaq H5450, Sony NX70V, and Dell HXIM X5. In addition to detailed tests of each model, the article compares processor, memory, screen, wireless features, size, and weight of each of these leading palmtops.
‘We are delighted to have been acclaimed the TravelPlus Editors Choice among the handheld computers on the market for the third time in four years. The review by Tom Dunmore is proof of the superior quality of the Tungsten T handheld computer, and since its launch last year it has become an essential tool for any professional who is regularly on the move.’ says Colin Holloway, Marketing Manager Northern Europe, Palm.
Simon Ward, Publisher of TravelPlus Magazine comments: ‘By their very nature, our readers are
dependent on mobile technology and need to be informed on the latest mobility solutions designed to
make everyday life easier. Our Annual Techno Tests and regular Arrivals feature, in which Tom looks at
the latest gadgets designed for the business traveller, have become an invaluable reference source for
our readers. We are currently considering putting the results of both past and present Techno Tests on
our website http://www.travelplus.co.uk as a direct result of reader feedback. Arrivals is already included on our website and is among the most visited pages.’
