New ZyWALL 10W offers secure Firewall and VPN across Wireless link
Aldermaston, Berkshire, 20th March 2003 – Electronic Frontier Ltd (EFL) has today announced the UK launch of the ZyWALL 10W Internet Security Gateway from ZyXEL Communications Corporation. The ZyWALL 10W offers Firewall / VPN functionality with added flexibility of wireless connectivity. It is immediately available from local, mail-order and web-based resellers and has a Suggested Retail Price of £279 (excl VAT).
Ideal for SOHO and SME environments, the ZyWALL 10W provides Stateful Firewall protection for networks and VPN (Virtual Private Network) capability for 10 concurrent IPSec connections with bandwidth of up to 15Mbs. By adding a Wireless LAN interface, it offers the flexibility of allowing wireless users to access the network over a secure connection. It also allows such users to create VPN connections over the wireless link.
The Wireless Access Point interface is activated by inserting ZyXEL's ZyAIR B-100 Wireless LAN PCMCIA adaptor. Operating on the IEEE 802.11b standard, the Wireless interface offers secure links for wireless users. As well as 64/128-bits WEP Encryption, the ZyWALL 10W also incorporates IEEE 802.1x authentication. This allows authentication against a local list of users or via a RADIUS Server.
The ZyWALL 10W protects networks from intruders by providing robust Firewall features and standard IPSec VPN tunneling. Based on Stateful Packet Inspection and Denial of Service (DoS), the ZyWALL 10W provides defense against hackers, network intruders, and other threats. The ZyWALL 10W supports ICSA certified IPSec VPN, suitable for site-to-site and remote access deployment. Data encryption over the Internet ensures secure transmission between two sites and can be used to replace a private leased line or frame relay network, allowing global inter-connectivity at minimal expense.
The ZyWALL 10W incorporates Bandwidth Management facilities to allow prioritized, proportional or equal sharing of available WAN bandwidth among classes of users to enable guaranteed Quality of Service(QoS).
The ZyWALL 10W also supports fail-over and fail-back technology by automatically forwarding WAN port traffic to a backup ISDN or Analog modem when the WAN port connection fails.
Also available in the range are the ZyWALL 2, 50, 100 and 200 products.
