Lisbon; 28th March 2003 – Altitude Software, a technology leader in contact centre solutions, has today announced that a consortium of new and existing investors has taken control of Altitude Software. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The consortium has appointed a new CEO and has committed to an investment plan designed to keep the company on track to become the leading independent European contact centre software vendor. The consortium includes a number of venture capital entities and financial institutions, among them: FIEP (a special government fund to support the internationalisation of companies); Fogeca (venture capital arm of Grupo Salvador Caetano); PME Capital (Portuguese venture capital fund); Grupo Totta (branch of Banco Santander Central Hispano) and Tafin (an investment fund put up by the new CEO, Mr. Gastão Taveira).

Altitude to become the leading European independent contact centre software vendor

“Altitude Software provides state-of-the-art contact centre solutions. Even in the current economic downturn, it has strengthened and increased its global customer base, deepened its partner network and developed a major new release of its product” said new Altitude CEO Gastão Taveira. Mr. Taveira MBA, a new Altitude shareholder, has an engineering background, with an international career in management consulting and in management in the financial services, retail and IT sectors. Prior to joining Altitude, Mr Taveira was the Managing Director of Enabler, a successful European systems integrator focused on the retail sector.

“The consortium investors were aware that Altitude had successfully restructured its business in order to achieve self-sustained growth. We are now providing the financial base necessary for a more focused, long-term business plan aiming to develop the product, expand its customer base and support the partner network”, said Mr. Taveira. “Altitude Software is very well positioned to become the leading European independent vendor in the growth area of customer interaction management”. In the last few months the company has captured a significant number of customer wins such as Amex, Banco Santander, Credit Agricole, Caixa Económica Federal, Franklin Templeton, Portugal Telecom, Sitel and Telefónica; and a number of fresh alliances with partners such as Accenture, British Telecom, Crane, CapGemini, HP, IBM, SchlumbergerSema and Soluziona.

Altitude uCI 7 enables extended enterprise and increases ROI

Altitude Software also announced that the new Altitude uCI release 7 would be shipped in June. The new release is a major step forward in offering effective solutions for managing customer relationships, through providing integrated support for assisted and self-service interactions irrespective of communication channel.

Altitude uCI 7 dramatically increases the solution’s ability to deliver return on investment (ROI) to Altitude customers. It introduces support for networked virtual contact centres, and enables easy integration to information sources and applications both within corporate systems and across different organisations. The new features enable customers to reach new levels of productivity, and boost their ability to implement an effective CRM strategy. Altitude uCI 7 further reduces the solution’s cost of ownership through delivering innovative tools that allow for fast customisation and the rapid development of campaigns and other business processes.

Altitude uCI 7 successfully addresses key concerns of companies: how to make information held in existing systems and databases effective in strengthening customer relationships, while interacting with customers consistently, irrespective of the interaction channel used.
