New leadership to focus on key markets with latest product release
Lisbon; 28th March 2003 – Altitude Software, a technology leader in contact centre solutions, has today announced that a consortium of new and existing investors has taken control of Altitude Software. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The consortium has appointed a new CEO and has committed to an investment plan designed to keep the company on track to become the leading independent European contact centre software vendor. The consortium includes a number of venture capital entities and financial institutions, among them: FIEP (a special government fund to support the internationalisation of companies); Fogeca (venture capital arm of Grupo Salvador Caetano); PME Capital (Portuguese venture capital fund); Grupo Totta (branch of Banco Santander Central Hispano) and Tafin (an investment fund put up by the new CEO, Mr. Gastão Taveira).

Prior to joining Altitude, Mr Taveira was the Managing Director of Enabler, a successful European systems integrator focused on the retail sector.

Mr. Gastão Borges Taveira is an engineer and holds a MBA from INSEAD - Fontainebleau (1984).
After working for the international management consultancy McKinsey & Company for six years in various countries (Portugal, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Brazil), he spent 4 years at Credit Suisse as Managing Director of the Portuguese insurance subsidiary Winterthur.
Mr Taveira has spent the last 4 years managing and investing in information technology companies. He was appointed Managing Director of Enabler in 1999 to conduct the partial MBO and spin-off from Sonae group. Enabler originated as the IT/IS department of Sonae Distribuição in 1998. Initially its clients were within the parent group and included several industry sectors. It focused on the retail and distribution vertical and the European market, investing in world-class processes, systems and training.
Today, amongst its customers are the most respected retailers and wholesalers in Europe, such as Debenhams, Nisa, B&Q and Tesco (UK); Despar (Italy); BHV/Lafayette (France); Ahold and Eroski (Spain); Hettlage (Germany).
Enabler has grown under his leadership from 110 employees, revenues of 7 million euros in 1999, to over 250 employees and 24 million euros in revenues at the beginning of 2003 (growing at 40% year rate).
He was instrumental in putting together the investment consortium and was invited to become the new CEO.
