Leading Provider of Integrity Assurance Solutions Integrates with
Micromuse's Netcool® Solutions for Superior IT Infrastructure Stability

Tripwire Inc., a world leader in integrity assurance solutions and a member of Micromuse's Alliance ProgrammeT, today announced that its Tripwire for Servers has been certified as a Netcool® ReadyT application. Tripwire for Servers helps IT staff determine how alterations made to UNIX and Microsoft Windows NT file systems and Windows NT registry keys change the security and integrity of data on servers. The integrated solution helps manage the stability of the infrastructure by consolidating Tripwire alerts on server integrity with Netcool-based data regarding overall IT availability and performance. This combined intelligence is presented in a single view to provide operations staff with enhanced control of the environment.

"Increasing IT complexity is making it harder to maintain security, availability and predictability of IT infrastructure," said Wyatt Starnes, founder, president and CEO of Tripwire. "Together, Micromuse's Netcool and Tripwire's integrity assurance solutions will make it easier for customers to identify and act on undesired network changes, leading to greater system availability and productivity."

The integration, which deploys out-of-the-box, allows "integrity violation alarms" gathered by Tripwire for Servers to be sent to the Netcool/OMNIbusT application via simple network management protocols (SNMP), system logs, e-mail or Windows NT event logs. Violation information is then consolidated and correlated with other network, system and application data within Netcool to determine when and how files have changed and what, if any, remedial action needs to occur to ensure the security and integrity of data on servers.

"Micromuse's alliance programme allows customers to enjoy seamless, best-of-breed solutions to better maintain their IT environments," said Darin Layman, vice president, market solutions at Micromuse. "The Tripwire and Netcool software integration provides organisations with a world-class solution for assuring system integrity and maintaining the security of their enterprise infrastructure."

The integration of Tripwire for Servers software with the Netcool/OMNIbus application is available through Micromuse. Please visit for more information.

About Tripwire® for Servers

Tripwire® for Servers software establishes the foundation for data security by assuring the integrity of servers across the network. It is the most widely deployed solution for today's most popular platforms. The software records a baseline of data in its desired state, detects and reports changes to the baseline and enables rapid discovery and remediation when an undesired change occurs. Flexible reports detail what, when and where change has occurred, as well as who made the change. Whether change originates from the outside or within - is malicious or accidental -Tripwire provides the only way to know, for certain, if your servers remain uncompromised.

About the Netcool® Suite

Micromuse's Netcool® software suite provides businesses with the assurance that their networks, services and applications are working. By allowing our customers to see what's happening throughout the infrastructure in realtime, Netcool applications enable them to respond to problems before network-based business services are affected.

Netcool suite applications install out-of-the-box, deploy rapidly and scale as networks grow. Micromuse's flagship, Netcool/OMNIbusT application, includes a library of off-the-shelf software modules that allow our customers to collect and consolidate fault information from more than 1,000 environments spanning voice and IP, cable/broadband, switches and routers, and enterprise management systems.
