London, UK – April 15, 2003 – iWay Software, an Information Builders company that accelerates business integration, today announced the formation of the iWay Adapter Factory Division. Sagent, Software AG, Sonic Software, and Sterling Commerce, among others, can now offer iWay Intelligent Adapters to integrate core products to other packaged applications, legacy systems, e-business networks, and vertical industry solutions such as SWIFT. Since its launch in January 2002, the iWay Software Adapter Factory has delivered open, intelligent, reusable adapters and transformation technologies that access virtually any information system with an absolute minimum of custom integration code.

“The software vendor community is coming to grips with the ‘last mile’ problem,” says John Senor, president of iWay Software. “Many vendors offer valuable software solutions, but their value is diminished because the vendors lack a comprehensive and powerful adapter offering to complete the last mile of integration. Our partners know how difficult this problem is. They don’t want to staff up an organisation that specialises in every system their customers might have. Providing a powerful and easy-to-use Universal Adapter Framework that enables virtually any application or integration tool to complete the last mile of integration to over 250 diverse information resources is iWay Software’s core competency. The iWay adapter product line lets them do that by providing pre-tested off-the-shelf components instead of custom code.”

“iWay Software adapters enable Sonic's customers to rapidly bridge the gap between legacy applications and the new world of built-to-integrate applications, as well as work with industry-specific formats and protocols,” comments Gordon Van Huizen, vice president of product management for Sonic Software. “The unique combination of iWay's intelligent adapters and Sonic's standards-based enterprise service bus gives organisations connectivity to virtually any system, while providing global scalability and ease-of-management – key attributes of Sonic's ESB approach to integration.”

"In the realm of application integration, connectivity and information sharing represent two of the most significant challenges," said Stephen D. Hendrick, group vice president at IDC. "Connectivity is often addressed through the use of adapters and/or middleware products. iWay Software is one of a small number of vendors with a successful track record in bringing adapter technology to the market."

David Watson has been promoted to vice president and general manager of the iWay Adapter Factory Division, which will focus on the development, delivery, and support of iWay’s Universal Adapter Framework with third-party software products offered by OEM/resellers and systems integrators. Introduced to respond to business demands for a cost-effective, easy-to-implement solution that would integrate disparate applications, transactions, and data across multiple technology platforms, the iWay adapter product line has received positive support and endorsements from leading market players, with several OEM partnership deals signed and in negotiations. Through forming strategic partnerships, iWay delivers its intelligent adapters, adding adapter depth, to enable their partner’s end users added cost benefits and further efficiencies through extending the integrated enterprise.

Having deep knowledge of packaged applications, mainframes, and legacy platforms, iWay Software supplies intelligent adapters that connect to over 250 packaged applications, legacy systems, relational databases, e-business formats, and middleware. Supporting a broad range of systems, platforms, and standards, iWay helps customers lower the cost and complexity of application integration projects.

“One of the greatest benefits obtained with the iWay Adapter Factory is that companies are not pigeon-holed in choosing their existing architecture over emerging technologies for a comprehensive integration solution,” said Roger Panfil, vice president of marketing, iWay Software. “This is essential as new standards will drive future e-business initiatives and systems integration."
