Woking, Surrey, 29th April -- Firewall and VPN performance needs are always increasing and many Check Point users have been looking for better performance from their security systems at a reasonable price. Application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technology can deliver that improved performance and Wick Hill is now making it available to Check Point users with a special 35% competitive upgrade programme.

Wick Hill, who specialise in secure infrastructure solutions, is offering the upgrade programme on the ASIC-based RapidStream 'Secured by Check Point' appliance range, to companies who want to trade-in their current security appliances. Existing Check Point licences can be transferred to the RapidStream device.

The RapidStream/Check Point combination gives users the superior speed of ASIC technology together with the trusted protection of Check Point's VPN and firewall software. This allows companies to use high-performance bandwidth without compromising their level of security. It is particularly suitable for medium to large enterprises.

RapidStream's appliances are easy to deploy, easy to use, compact and reliable. In addition they can be centrally managed and offer extremely good price/performance. The appliances fit easily into a complete Check Point OPSEC security solution.

Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill Group, commented: "Fast ROI and high performance are crucial elements for business. This programme means that they are now no longer mutually exclusive."

ASIC Technology

RapidStream appliances are powered by RapidCore, RapidStream's programmable network security ASIC. RapidCore accelerates all security processes in a cut-

through mode, bypassing the CPU and system bus bottlenecks of traditional appliance architecture. It simultaneously executes VPN, firewall, Network Address Translation (NAT), QOS (quality of service), and IP Security (IPSec) policies at ultra-high levels of performance with latency measured in microseconds, not milliseconds.

In addition, with RapidStream, established user sessions proceed undisturbed while the appliance is fending off denial of service (DoS) type attacks, such as the Code Red virus.

Price and Availability

RapidStream appliances are currently available from Wick Hill resellers. Prices range from GBP2750 to GBP35,000, with the opportunity for the 35% competitive upgrade programme.
