Relationship to Provide Infonet’s Multinational Clients with Web Content Filtering, Malicious Code Scanning and Proxy Services

Blue Coat Systems today announced that Infonet Services Corporation (NYSE: IN), a leading provider of global communications services to multinationals, has implemented Blue Coat’s Web security appliances to deliver managed Web security services to nearly 3,000 of the company’s global enterprise customers.

Blue Coat Systems is providing Infonet with a Web security platform that leverages proxy caching expertise and granular policy architecture to ‘turbo-charge’ and enable Web security applications. The new appliances from Blue Coat complement Infonet’s managed firewall service by policing Web content traversing the open port 80. The Blue Coat platform was uniquely selected for Infonet’s managed services environment based on its secure operating system (SGOS), integrated URL filtering and malicious mobile code security. The appliances also adhere to existing NTLM and LDAP authentication schemes, and include the logging, reporting and monitoring tools required for carrier provisioning and billing of managed services to enterprise organisations.

“Blue Coat’s Web security platform is the ideal choice for our managed services environment, offering easy-to-deploy, scalable Web security that grows with our business,” said Michael Lee, product marketing manager for Infonet. “The Blue Coat platform simply ‘works.’ The appliances improve Web security and increase Web content delivery performance for our more than 100,000 supported users.”
“It is a good indication that the port 80 Web security market is reaching critical mass when managed service providers are deploying it for their users,” said Richard Stiennon, vice president of research for Gartner. “Organisations today must implement network security above and beyond the firewall, deploying solutions that address the agility of today’s Web-based applications and mobile threats.”
