Continues Integration with Enterprise Management Systems
Tripwire, Inc., the world leader in integrity assurance, today announced Tripwire for Servers Smart Plug-In (SPI) for HP OpenView has achieved certification. The new Tripwire SPI, integrated with HP OpenView Operations for Windows, will give customers the ability to secure the integrity of their technology infrastructure and thus increase their overall operating environment efficiencies.
Tripwire for Servers technology is the de facto standard for measuring and monitoring the state of data in complex IT environments. Coupling Tripwire's deep integrity capabilities with HP OpenView solutions provides the ability to implement "closed loop" IT service management within the HP OpenView framework. Tripwire enables organisations to rapidly detect, diagnose, and resolve operational issues resulting from unauthorised data changes whether these changes are malicious attacks from the outside, or an inadvertent error made internally.
"Our research has shown that organisations that actively manage their overall infrastructure integrity minimise the risks of unnoticed and uncontrolled change, and are able to keep their systems in a trustworthy, secure and available state," said Wyatt Starnes, founder, president and CEO of Tripwire. "This increases operational reliability with the added benefit of lowering their risk from malicious attacks - thus indicating that what's good for security is good for operations, and vice versa."
"IT service management is a critical capability for HP's customers, and the integration of Tripwire integrity assurance solutions allows us to enhance HP OpenView's capabilities in this area," said Todd DeLaughter, vice president and general manager, HP OpenView Business Unit. "Tripwire's ability to instrument and manage the integrity of the IT infrastructure provides the means to achieve increased operational efficiencies and security."
Tripwire's Integrity Assurance Solutions
Effective management of system integrity is emerging as a best practice in IT. This discipline compels users to understand and manage the data on all process nodes in the infrastructure. Infrastructure that must be instrumented include servers, workstations, routers, firewall, databases, network devices, and any other place where unauthorised change can compromise the security of the organisation or cause an outage in mission-critical environments.
Integrity management relies upon data integrity techniques to monitor the files and configurations of IT systems. Change is detected by comparing the current state of a system's file content and configuration settings against established and trusted baselines, which are various snapshots of known system states archived for reference and potential retrieval. When change occurs, responses are triggered within the HP OpenView framework according to the associated policies, processes, and responses established by the system administrator.
HP OpenView SPIs are fully integrated, out-of-the-box solutions that seamlessly work with HP OpenView products, extending an HP OpenView product's managed domain to include industry-leading e-commerce, business, Internet, database, and management applications. This tight integration gives IT organisations a cost-efficient, easily configurable, and time-saving way to rapidly and successfully incorporate new business applications and management solutions into their service delivery infrastructure.
