The committee and board have been elected from a veritable who’s who of storage and fibre channel experts from across Europe, including members from the UK, Germany and France, firmly cementing the recent merger of both the SNIA-E and the FCIA-E. Both SNIA-E and FCIA-E members jointly nominated the candidates and the board heralds a new chapter in the life of the evolved industry body.
The newly elected governing committee are as follows: Gill Borniche, Peter Coleman, Philippe Fossé, Andy Litherland, Ian Lockhart, Axel Luedecke, Jason Phippen, Malte Rademacher, Daniel Sazbon, Paul Talbut, Robert Thurnhofer, Paul Trowbridge, and Alan Wallman.
The new chairman, Paul Talbut will lead the board for the next two years, shaping future policy and development for the SNIA-E.
Paul Talbut, the newly elected chairman of the SNIA Europe commented on his plans for the future:
“I am delighted with being given the opportunity of leading the new SNIA Europe to accelerate the growth of storage networking in the region. This is about combining the strengths and the memberships of the two organisations and ensuring that storage networks become open, trusted and valued solutions across the IT community.”
The newly elected vice chairperson is Jason Phippen. Both Talbut and Phippen have played vital roles in the FCIA-E and the SNIA-E. Talbut was the founder of the FCIA in Europe and Phippen was a former director. Both served on the governing committee of the SNIA-E and were instrumental in the unification of the two organisations and to ensure the needs of both bodies are fully represented.
Paul Talbut brings with him to the role over 31 years experience in the IT industry and his four years as Chairman for the FCIA-E and CEO of his own company (specialised in integrating storage networking solutions) will help in the new role.
Vice Chair, Jason Phippen also boasts 14 years experience in IT and his experience in leading the technical committee for the FCIA-E will aid in ensuring that the needs of users, channel partners and storage vendors are represented across Europe.
The new Secretary and Treasurer Ian Lockhart and Peter Coleman both held directorship positions in the FCIAE and Coleman served as secretary at the SNIA-E, ensuring that the resources that the SNIA-E has are carefully controlled. They will also be tasked with ensuring that the SNIA-E provides an invaluable service to existing members and a compelling reason to join the growing number of applications from new members. This includes making sure that end users have an independent, impartial arena in which to state their needs to the storage networking industry, and the SNIA-E in turn, can educate them and provide more information. The SNIA-E also gives the industry vital feedback to help shape future benchmarks, standards and accreditation.
Michel Grosbost, who is the outgoing chair of the SNIA-E wished the new board well, commenting: “We are currently at one of the most exciting times of the SNIA Europe’s development, and there will be many challenges ahead for the new board and committee, which I know they will all relish and embrace. During my time as chairman, I was fortunate enough to work with a fantastic team and have no doubt that the new board will fully embrace their new roles and enjoy the experience as much as I did. I wish them all the best of luck and eagerly anticipate the coming developments that are made.”
