Online Service Speeds up Access and Research to More Than 17,000 Medical Products

Harrow, England, 10 June, 2003: Intershop Communications, a leading provider of innovative solutions for online commerce, today announced that Enfinity MultiSite will power a new online healthcare service from IDIS, a specialist provider of medicines. Planned to be available this Summer, this “search and order” service will meet the needs of medical professionals who require greater amounts of information when purchasing and sourcing medicines that are discontinued, unlicensed or in short supply. With a database of more than 17,000 different products, account holders will be able to research and place orders online, anytime, from anywhere.

This online buying service will be invaluable to IDIS in servicing its expanding global customer base – now located in all time zones around the world. IDIS currently supplies more than 600 different drugs on a “named patient” basis to hospitals and pharmacists in the UK and 44 other countries including France, Germany, and the United States. . Most of these prescriptions are related to critical patient care, where accuracy and speed make all the difference. Faster research and streamlined ordering are expected to benefit thousands of patients suffering from life-threatening conditions.
