Faster processing of loan applications and quicker access to information for Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division customers, thanks to Cable & Wireless and ALLnet

Cable & Wireless, the global telecommunications group, today (10 June 2002) announced that it has successfully implemented LAN and WAN infrastructure for Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division’s new flagship office and call centre, opening in Cardiff today. Project management and structured cabling for this project were undertaken by ALLnet, the Cable & Wireless network infrastructure services group.

The communications infrastructure provided by Cable & Wireless will allow fast and efficient communications for the 1,100 Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division employees in Cardiff, enabling them to service its network of finance centres and motor dealerships with information quickly, efficiently and securely - connecting approximately 5,000 users across the division. The IP local area network (IP-LAN), for example, will benefit end-users by enabling faster processing of loan applications and quicker access to information for Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division’s customers.

Cable & Wireless has been highly commended by Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division for excellent project management, ensuring that this highly complex project was completed on time and within budget. Building upon the rigorous execution of the project, and in recognition of Cable & Wireless as a leader in managing both legacy and IP-based networks, Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division is to work closely with Cable & Wireless as it investigates the e-enablement of its entire business communications infrastructure.

“We have been highly impressed by the professionalism and collaborative approach of the Cable & Wireless team. The new office represents an important phase in the development of our business, and our complex and demanding infrastructure needs were met seamlessly from start to finish,” said Hugh Reader, General Manager, Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division. “Going forward, we believe that this new infrastructure will give Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division a real competitive advantage, as it will enable us to operate more efficiently and develop more effective ways to interact with our customers and suppliers.”

“Cable & Wireless is in a unique position to help organisations, such as Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division, successfully maximise frame-relay based technology and evaluate migration to a fully e-enabled IP business communications infrastructure,” said Gareth James, chief operating officer, UK, Cable & Wireless, who attended the opening ceremony. “We are committed to working closely with Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division to deliver high quality solutions against rigorous project management schedules and we look forward to a fruitful relationship.”

Today’s opening ceremony for the new office and call centre in Cardiff was attended by Maarten van den Bergh, chairman, Lloyds TSB Group and the Rt. Hon. Rhodri Morgan AM (First Minister, National Assembly for Wales), alongside representatives of Cable & Wireless.

Cable & Wireless has successfully implemented a range of services including Frame Relay wide area network (WAN), IP local area network (IP-LAN) and Centrex Automatic Call Distribution (ACD), to help improve the performance of Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division’s call centre. Structured cabling and project management were provisioned by ALLnet.

Cable & Wireless has an existing commercial relationship with Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division to provide a data network that connects the division's 120 sites across the UK.
