Sussex solicitors opt for lean IT system

Bunkers solicitors now have a team of IT specialists working for them, without adding to their payroll. The Hove-based law firm has outsourced all its IT systems to PAV i.t., who can resolve any problems with the help of their ten-strong support team.

The West Sussex systems integration and networking company was asked to install and maintain a completely new IT system that would meet the present and future needs of the firm's seven partners, 14 further solicitors and other staff. By using thin client technology and setting up a direct link, the company can administer and control the whole system remotely from their offices in Sayers Common, near Brighton.

"As it is obviously not practical to employ a large IT support team ourselves, it made sense to outsource," explained Mark Dennis, Bunkers' practice manager. "Now PAV i.t. can supply the expertise if we need it, without inflating our salary bill."

PAV i.t. managing director Mike Borissow added: "This type of totally managed service is usually only available to large corporations. By offering it to mid-sized companies, we remove a lot of potential headaches and enable our clients to concentrate on their core activities."

The network links servers with over 50 PCs and provides the solicitors with secure access to client information and rapid access to legal databases.

PAV i.t. are prime sponsors of Sussex County Cricket Club.

Notes to editors
A thin client system is one where the processing power is concentrated in a central server and the desk-top client machines have a relatively low specification. This arrangement makes it easier to carry out maintenance centrally.

PAV i.t. services plc is a leading systems integration and networking house. Established in 1986, it designs, configures, installs and integrates networks for business and commercial customers in London and the south east. It offers mid-sized companies the outsourcing services usually only available to large corporations.
