We can put you in touch with schools that are using an automated text messaging system to immediately inform the parents of pupils who are playing truant.

This is very newsworthy! Two major announcements have been made this week:

In a Government review of education welfare services, Education Minister, Ivan Lewis, made the following announcements:

1. Schools should contact parents within an hour if their child plays truant.

2. Schools should set up a database of parents' mobile telephone numbers so that they can be sent a text message if the child fails to turn up.

3. It will be the responsibility of head teachers that calls are made to parents within an hour.

4. Mr Lewis expects more schools to adopt electronic registration systems to meet the new target.

In a separate report also published this week, OFSTED estimates that 10,000 15 year-olds are unaccounted for on education rolls in England.

An automated text messaging system from Truancy Call Ltd. (www.truancycall.com) is providing the perfect answer for many schools looking to tackle the difficult issue of truancy. There are already ***
schools across the UK cutting truancy levels using Truancy Call. We would be delighted to put you in touch with one of them for any forthcoming features on the subject.
