17 June 2003 - RentStoreÔ is today announcing the signing of a joint understanding with world leading storage manufacturer, Iomega. In this agreement, RentStore will offer Iomega Network Attached Storage products to its UK customer base and Iomega will offer RentStore services to all its UK Value Added Resellers.

RentStore’s rental pricing strategy for Iomega’s NAS range reflects its belief in the durability and longevity of Iomega’s products. Based on a minimum recommended retail price value of £12,000.00, RentStore is set to offer 3 year rentals at 5 year rates. This will apply to single or mixed unit orders. For example, a 3 year term rental for a ‘fully loaded’ Iomega P850 NAS unit with 1.44 terabytes of storage (£14,870.00 rrp), would be £320.00 per month ex VAT, 5 year rentals reflect the same strategy.

“We believe NAS storage products, such as Iomega’s, will have long lives and be revenue earning over much longer periods than other technologies. Our rental pricing strategy is based on that belief.” Comments Tim Wickes, Sales and Marketing Director of RentStore. “Iomega NAS already has many user attractions, such as being Windows based, fast and easy to install plus application flexibility. Whilst helping boost NAS sales overall, cost effective rentals make much needed storage affordable in areas such as Health, Education and Local Government, where capital budgets have been cut to ribbons”. he adds.

Paul Keeley, the man spearheading Iomega’s European sales, sees rental providing the financial catalyst for all users to insure their business futures. He comments “ Apart from a few nomadic tinkers, no organisation can operate today without its information technology. Yet, many stand on the edge of virtual liquidation by having inadequate or zero information security and back-up systems. My mission with Iomega is to address the balance and I see rental being a major weapon in doing so”.

RentStore now offers over twenty hardware and software suppliers’ products on rental. Suppliers include StorageTek, Procom, Legato, CA, ADIC and Plasmon. Where the products justify the approach, the same pricing strategy is applied.

Editorial Note
RentStore is the recently launched arm of the Intelco Group plc., set up to supply organisations with IT storage solutions on rental. Through RentStore, Intelco has supplemented its traditional way of doing business by adding a range of storage specific services to its rental offering. These include storage audits, health checks and assessment consultancy, strategic resource planning to take into account legacy storage, growth, security, resilience and management needs. RentStore then facilitates plans by supplying all the software and hardware architecture required, plus the integration, installation and after sales support, all costed into a quarterly rental charge.

RentStore’s move into the storage marketplace reflects the fact that storage is increasingly becoming the most vital IT resource. On average, corporate storage requirements are doubling every year and therefore storage system solutions need to be structured for ease of growth, yet be flexible to cope with changing requirements. This is fertile ground for rental, where one of the main reasons to rent is to enable change and evolution without continual high cost of redundant hardware and software. .

There are two other operations within the Intelco Group plc. Intelco Limited, a specialist company which brings many years of experience to the design and management of supplier rental programmes, and RentalDirect, a web based operation that acts as a shop window for Intelco’s supplier clients with a wide variety of software and hardware solutions available on rental.

The Intelco Group was formed in 1987 and today has a wide end user customer base, with many in the public sector and Government, where rental solves the problem of capital budgets not matching the IT development needs, particularly in the area of eGovernment. Intelco is at : Intelco House, Whittle Parkway, Burnham, Slough SL1 6DQ
