New Release Brings Increased Functionality for Administrators of Distributed Networks

London, UK – June 26, 2003 - SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL) a leading provider of comprehensive Internet security solutions, today announced significant upgrades to its award-winning Global Management System (GMS). With the addition of support for the company’s recently announced SOHO TZW secure wireless appliance and Global VPN Client, all current SonicWALL appliances and VPN products can now be managed through GMS 2.5.

Network environments are becoming increasingly distributed, often including corporate headquarters, remote and branch office locations, and individual telecommuters and road warriors. As more employees require remote access to corporate networks, the new ability of GMS 2.5 to manage SonicWALL’s Global VPN Client enables administrators to cost-effectively support remote or travelling workers anywhere in the world without compromising security.

Wireless networks also represent an area of rapid infrastructure growth as employees demand the productivity and convenience of mobility. SonicWALL GMS 2.5 in conjunction with the SOHO TZW allows network administrators to enforce strict access and encryption security policies on wireless LANs, bringing this new part of the network infrastructure under the same degree of control as the wired network.

SonicWALL GMS version 2.5 can monitor and manage thousands of SonicWALL Internet security appliances and clients on a network, allowing network administrators at both businesses and service providers to configure firewalls and other SonicWALL services including Virtual Private Networking (VPN), anti-virus, wireless security and content filtering. Network administrators can also remotely enforce security policies from a central location on an individual, group, or global basis over encrypted VPN tunnels for maximum security.

“Over the past year we have been planning, designing and implementing a new global VPN network to replace our previous VPN deployment, which was based on software firewalls that required local software updates,” said Claus Jensen of European Travel Insurance, Denmark. “We needed a global VPN network that was much easier to deploy and manage, that was more cost-effective, and that could be remotely managed and updated by our network administrators around the world. The SonicWALL managed security solution with VPN concentration capabilities and GMS gave us all we needed and more.”

Additional New Features in GMS 2.5 Include:

· Visual Navigation Tool – A detailed, graphical view of the GMS deployment infrastructure simplifies network administrators’ management of global security policies and services across distributed networks

· Group Policy Filtering - New flexibility in the way group settings for new devices are imported increases ease of use for network administrators

· Centralized, Customizable Reporting - Graphical reports of firewall and network activities provide better insight into the usage trends and security events of the managed networks

“Having the right security appliances for the job is only part of the solution in a distributed network deployment; one also needs to be able to install, configure and manage those devices and the security services running on them,” said Douglas Brockett, SonicWALL vice president of worldwide marketing. “The new capabilities of GMS 2.5 give companies the ability to manage both their traditional fixed security infrastructure along with important security technologies required for a mobile workforce, such as wireless and remote access, with the goal of improving productivity and lowering the total cost of ownership.”
