Nishan Systems Multi-protocol IP Storage Switch Awarded SAN Product of the Year at Networking Industry Awards 2003

Nishan’s pioneering approach to Storage Area Networking gains industry recognition

Bracknell, UK – 2nd July 2003 – Nishan Systems (, the world’s first supplier of native IP storage solutions, today announced that its IPS 3300 multi-protocol IP storage switch was heralded as SAN Product of the Year at last week’s 10th annual Networking Industry Awards.

“Recognition of our ground-breaking work in IP storage area networks upon our first entry in the awards is fantastic,” said Bob Russo, CEO, Nishan Systems. “We have received excellent reviews on our technology from our end user customers and partners; this award solidifies their sentiments and is an excellent validation of our technology.”

An independent panel of leading professionals within the networking industry judges the Networking Industry Awards, organised by CMP Information in conjunction with Networks for Business 2003. The annual product awards are given in recognition of the success of those companies leading the way in the voice and data networking market. The SAN Product of the Year 2003, sponsored by ACAL FCS, was awarded to Nishan’s IPS 3300 multi-protocol IP storage switch based on its functionality, innovation, performance, configuration, resilience, ease of use, price and customer experiences. Nishan was short listed for the award along with Brocade, EMC, Cisco, Qlogic and Veritas.

Jane Murphy, Portfolio Director, Networks for Business commented, “Nishan’s pioneering developments in IP SAN technology and the ease of use of the IPS 3300 impressed the judges. The awards are given in recognition of the success of companies like Nishan who are leading the way in the networking market. ”

“Considering the class of high calibre nominees for this award, Nishan’s selection as SAN Product of the Year is a testament to the growing influence of IP on traditional SAN technology,” said John Webster, founder and senior analyst of the Data Mobility Group. “Nishan’s success despite a tough economy shows that customers are finding innovative ways to solve their storage problems by melding SANs and their mainstream networks.”
