Renowned Travel Card Company Creates Robust Portal Environment
To Facilitate Worldwide Franchise Communication

8th July, 2003 – ATG (Art Technology Group, Inc., Nasdaq: ARTG), a leading provider of innovative software applications for commerce and customer self-service, today announced that Diners Club International Ltd (DCI), the preferred charge card among frequent business travellers and affluent individuals, has selected ATG Portal to facilitate the exchange of information among its 83 franchises, sub-franchises, and agencies around the globe.

With such a widespread franchise base, Diners Club previously utilised email, fax, and paper-based mail as the predominant means of communication with these widespread franchise offices. As the amount of information being disseminated grew, along with the increased need to improve cross-border communication, business processes and access to critical information among franchises, Diners Club realised they needed to find a way to cost-effectively solve these issues. As a result, Diners Club turned to ATG Portal to enable the global franchise network and DCI to increase productivity, improve sharing of best practices, and reduce costs.

The new portal called ‘Diners Club InfoNet,’ will serve as a secure, single access point to existing and future applications, including business-critical reporting systems. Through InfoNet, Diners Club will be able to provide a user-friendly environment where franchises can turn to gain information and insight about programs other franchises are executing as well as corporate customer information from individual regions. Todd Janssen, vice president of technology, Diners Club, said “Diners Club selected ATG Portal in part due to a previous positive experience with ATG, which powers the www.dinersclubnorthamerica.com site. ATG Portal will leverage and extend this existing platform to provide a cost-effective and efficient self-service portal solution.”

“Our primary goal was to provide a central means for our widespread franchises to get the information they need, at the time they need it,” said Janice Alfini, senior vice-president of strategy, Diners Club. “Once ATG Portal is implemented, we will be able to significantly enhance our communication channels across borders, provide collaborative tools for franchises, as well as maintain an electronic library that eliminates the need to print or e-mail many documents. Further, with all our franchises having access to the portal, we will empower these users to edit sections of the portal and ensure the most current information is available.”

To facilitate the exchange of information, the portal will enable franchises to post content as well as gain access to information they previously were not able to view. Some of the content available on the portal will include: a contact center for all employees, corporate customer databases, library of recently available and archived information, and community areas for exchanging information.

“As more companies seek to provide an effective and streamlined communication channel to enhance information exchange, ATG Portal offers the ideal solution for companies like Diners Club to connect franchises around the globe,” said John Dragoon, senior vice president of marketing, ATG. “More companies are focusing on increasing productivity while reducing costs and the self-service functionality of ATG Portal enables these companies to succeed on both fronts.”
