11th July 2003 - UK Formula Ford Championship announced today that it will sign an agreement that will see HarrierZeuros become the series’ title sponsor for the remainder of the 2003 racing season.
The major new deal will involve all 37 registered cars and drivers sporting HarrierZeuros branding and direct title association. Therefore the series will now be known as the HarrierZeuros UK Formula Ford Championship.
Based in Hook, Hampshire, HarrierZeuros provides network, storage and information security services to a range of blue chip companies, many of which are listed on the FTSE 100. The company has previously sponsored renowned yachtsman Tony Bullimore and his team in the 27,000-mile round the world “The Race”.
“The tie-up with HarrierZeuros is a great boost for the series,” commented Dan Mayo, series Director of UK Formula Ford. “It represents a highly significant growth in the appeal of the UK Formula Ford Championship. Formula Ford has been a breeding ground for talent for more than three decades with young drivers getting to grips with the latest engineering and technology and that fits in with the profile of HarrierZeuros, which is at the forefront of such a hi-tech industry.”
Richard Davis, Sales Director of HarrierZeuros said: “Sponsoring the UK Formula Ford Championship is a natural choice for HarrierZeuros as it reflects our own successful ethos in combining the skill of an experienced team with close working partnerships and the development of youthful talent. So many celebrated names in motor racing started here and it’s great to know that our sponsorship of the championship will go towards helping the stars of the future.”
The UK Formula Ford Championship has been the crucible for young drivers to make their mark and has launched the careers of such stars as Jenson Button, Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna, David Coulthard and James Hunt. In 2003 it forms part of the support race package of the Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship and receives Live television coverage on the satellite, digital and cable channel Motors TV as well as terrestrial and satellite coverage from Motorsport UK aired on the ITV network and Men and Motors.
The HarrierZeuros UK Formula Ford Championship’s next stop will be Croft Circuit, North Yorkshire on 12th and 13th July for Rounds 11 and 12.
