London, 15thJuly 2003 - Easynet, the pan European broadband provider for business and government, today announced immediate availability of SureStream - its high speed dedicated Internet access service at a fraction of the cost of a traditional leased line - in major metropolitan areas and towns outside London, including Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow and Edinburgh. This national roll-out follows a successful launch of SureStream in the London market in March 2003, and further extends Easynet’s lead over the rest of the market in providing powerful alternatives to other providers based on its leadership in unbundled local loop infrastructure.

Businesses outside of London have found dedicated Internet access via leased lines more expensive than businesses within London. This is because traditional leased lines are priced based on distance between the customer site to the point of presence (PoP) – a lower density of PoPs outside of London means higher leased line costs because of the longer distances involved.

Easynet SureStream is charged at a flat rate with no distance price escalator at all. The 2Mb service is available nationally at a rate of £5795 pa (including IP, line rental and router), giving businesses their first credible alternative to traditional leased lines. Users can save 30-40 percent of their original connectivity costs, even when they upgrade from a slower 500 MB leased line service to a much faster 2MB SureStream service, for example.

SureStream offers business customers a high-speed dedicated leased line with 1:1 contention ratio, backed up by an industry-leading, 99.9% service level agreement (SLA) and 24x7 customer care, giving corporate customers non-stop resilient functionality and support, and all the benefits of a traditional leased line service with the additional benefits of higher bandwidth options.

SureStream is uniquely available at speeds of 1Mbps, 2 Mbps and 4Mbps nationally, giving the option to upgrade the service as demand grows. Higher speeds are currently under development giving inherent future proofing and an easy upgrade path.

David Rowe, CEO, Easynet said: “Since we made SureStream available within the London area, we’ve had a fantastic response from the market with businesses switching from leased lines and realising significant savings. Our national network of unbundled exchanges enables Easynet to now bring the same flat rate, competitively priced and high specification service to the wider business market nationally. At long last, businesses have a real choice in dedicated access solutions that best suit their needs and budgets”

Easynet has unbundled exchanges throughout the UK including London, Birmingham, Bristol, Brighton, Cambridge, Guildford, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and towns in the Thames Valley, Surrey, Kent, Hertfordshire and Essex areas, giving it in-depth service coverage of the UK business community on a national basis. This enables Easynet to develop and deploy a unique range of IP services including super-fast ADSL, symmetrical DSL and new generations of leased line alternatives such as SureStream.
