Cortec Solutions today announced that Essex based Limehouse Board Mills has selected the CORTEC converter software system. The system, which is enabled for bar-coded stock identification and radio data terminals, will be phased in over several months this year. It will initially be used to manage laminator production including the purchasing and stock management of reels of raw material. Later phases of the project will embrace all of the many production processes, integrating them with stock sales and accounting systems.

Limehouse Board Mills is one of the oldest established family businesses in the board converting industry. Founded in 1860 and originally based in the East End of London the company today has thousands of product lines and hundreds of customers from many sectors. It is particularly known for the print and supply of white lined and grey boards.

Limehouse selected CORTEC converter to replace an ageing in-house system. The new system will enable improved stock turnaround and greater accuracy of tracking. Real-time data collection from the plant, which operates round-the-clock, will also reduce waste through tighter stock control leading to improved efficiency and cost reduction.

James Hough managing director of Limehouse said, “CORTEC was recommended to us by Winpac, where CORTEC is in use at three European plants. Our system will make extensive use of barcode printers and readers to track pre and post-production stock. We were keen to work with a company that specialised in solutions for the paper and board industry and Cortec Solutions definitely understands our business.”

Stuart Dewey, managing director and founder of Cortec Solutions concluded, “From my experience as a paper industry financial director, I am very aware that poor stock management is a real headache for converters. Without accurate and timely stock information it is impossible to optimise stock levels or get on top of wastage. Chasing down stock errors is a chronic time waster. CORTEC converter uses a sophisticated stock management and location system with radio data terminals feeding real-time information back to the system from the production floor. This gives our customer total clarity and control of the stock and production situation and their customers receive the right product, on time and at the right price every time.”
