Intec Telecom Systems, a global leader in Operations Support Systems (OSS) for the telecommunications industry, and VimpelCom, one of the major providers of wireless telecommunications in Russia, today announced the successful deployment of Intec’s InterconnecT™ billing solution. VimpelCom uses InterconnecT to accurately bill other operators for carrying calls to VimpelCom's fast-growing GSM subscriber base, enabling improved operational efficiency, significant cost reductions and increased profitability. At present, InterconnecT is offering daily support for VimpelCom’s 17 interconnect billing partners in the city of Moscow. Plans are currently underway to rollout the solution across all of VimpelCom's mobile operations in Russia. VimpelCom’s mobile license portfolio covers approximately 92% of Russia's population (134 million people), supporting over 7 million mobile subscribers and operating 43 regional networks. The company is the mobile market leader in the City of Mosco
w and the Moscow Region.
“Intec’s InterconnecT provides us with an integrated billing solution to ensure quality, flexibility, and accuracy in managing complex intercarrrier relationships” said Jere Calmes, Vice President of Customer Operations at VimpelCom. “As a result, VimpelCom can now control costs and connect with more carrier partners, thereby helping us to improve time to market for services. We are extremely pleased with the solution’s performance to date and we are confident that it will support our plans for optimising our countrywide billing operations through centralising and streamlining business processes.”
According to Research Analyst Yankee Group, Russia has one of the world’s fastest growing wireless industries. Yankee expects the Russian mobile market to grow to US$8.6 billion by 2007, compared with $3.3 billion in 2002. Intec’s InterconnecT, the world leader in intercarrier billing, offers VimpelCom the functionality to manage this level of growth. This includes scalability in supporting high volumes of Call Detail Records (CDRs) as well as capacity to build reference data based on interconnect agreements. Additionally, InterconnecT offers detailed summary reporting and least cost routing options to help maximize revenue streams.
“The successful InterconnecT implementation is proof of Intec’s commitment to VimpelCom´s complex business requirements,” said Kevin Adams, CEO at Intec Telecom Systems. “With InterconnecT Vimpelcom should expect ongoing improvements to billing efficiency and profitability, ensuring its competitive edge in Russia’s rapidly evolving market. Intec’s extensive experience in the Eastern European market, coupled with its financial strength and stability also ensures that it will remain VimpelCom´s long term systems provider, offering ongoing support for new services and business innovation.”
