19 August 2003: Workspace Group plc, the leading provider of flexible office accommodation to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in London and the South East, has today launched the first ever ‘Recyclopedia’ - a unique guide designed to assist tenants in improving waste management and sustainable development policies.

Adhering to the 3R’s principle of Reduce, Re-use and Recycle, the Recyclopedia lists over 40 different types of waste that can be re-used or recycled – such as cables, electrical appliances, cardboard, polystyrene cups, computers, CDs, carpets and telephones – with easy-to-follow explanations on what to do with each material. The Recyclopedia is designed for use by all different types of SME organisations and industries and provides waste-busting tips for tenants ‘who are keen to make a difference – both to the environment and to [their] profit margins’.

In line with the design and content of the Recyclopedia, Workspace Group’s ethos is to make recycling, re-using and reducing as easy as possible for tenants. Consequently, tenants only need to speak to one person, i.e. the Centre Manager at their respective Workspace Group property, to tackle a specific environmental problem or request.

Workspace Group is the first commercial property company to develop an initiative such as the Recyclopedia, which fits its existing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy. Further demonstrating its commitment to sustainable development, Workspace Group plans to increase its average waste recycling from 4% per annum to 7.5% during fiscal year 2003.
