The organisation which originally piloted the Open University - the National Extension College is reaping the benefits of Electronic Document Management and Delivery software from Version One. The software, which is seamlessly integrated into its existing Agresso accounting system, has enabled it to make substantial savings and improve efficiency within its finance function.

Colin Christy, Director of Finance and Operations for the College, said, Version Ones document management software has allowed us to transform our business documents and give them a much more professional image. The efficient operation of our accounting function is crucial to our overall success, so the fact that the software automatically electronically distributes these documents to all our suppliers and customers, is saving us dramatic amounts of time and money

He continued, Version One are the recognised market leaders in document management and imaging software and have a long-established track record within the Education sector. The implementation went very smoothly and immediately generated efficiency savings for the finance department. The software is so tightly integrated into our Agresso system that its invisible, so our users required very little training. Like other users of the Agresso system, Version Ones software adds tremendous value and power to the base accounting system, which produces substantial reductions in bottom-line costs.

A non-profit making Trust founded in 1963, the National Extension College enrolls more than 10,000 new students each year on over 140 home-study courses. The N.E.C. is self-financing, is totally independent of the Government and is dedicated to widening access to education for adults through distance learning. Corporate clients include Coca Cola Enterprises, HM Prison Service and University for Industry.

As well as saving us time and money, these document management solutions have significantly improved our customer service and will ensure that the N.E.C. remains one of the UK's leading providers of both tutor-supported home study courses and open learning materials for colleges, companies, tutors and trainers concluded Colin Christy.
