Freelancing will feature in a small business fringe meeting at the Labour Party Conference when two Government Ministers and the Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Small Business Group will address an audience of delegates, politicians, small businesses and freelancers.

The meeting 'Is Labour the Party of and for small business?' is being organised by the Labour Small Business Forum and sponsored by Shout99.com, the UK's largest freelancer network.

The line up at the event will be :-

Nigel Griffiths MP - Small Business Minister DTI

John Healey MP - Economic Secretary to the Treasury

Kerry Pollard MP - Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Small Business Group

The event will be chaired by Philip Ross founder of the Labour Small Business Forum who has actively - and successfully - worked on a number of freelancer campaigns, including fast track visas.

Philip Ross said: "The Labour Small Business Forum is a network of Labour party members who own and run small businesses, or work as self-employed or as freelancers. We believe that the Government can be both pro-business and pro-fairness at the same time.

"The Ministers present represent the major Government departments - the DTi and the Treasury - Kerry Pollard provides input from backbench MPs and they will be putting the case as to why Labour is the party of small business."

Susie Hughes, editor of Shout99 who is sponsoring the event said: "In the past, freelancing hasn't featured strongly at these meetings. Now freelancers have an opportunity to put their message directly to Ministers and to make sure that freelancing is an item on their agendas when they are formulating policies which affect small businesses in general and freelancing in particular."

Freelancers and small businesses are invited to attend the meeting (which is outside the security cordon so no special accreditation is required) at the Labour Party Conference on Monday 29th September 17:30 till 18:30 at the Marsham Court Hotel, Russell Cotes Road, Bournemouth BH1 3AB.
