Polaron Schaevitz has won approval from Honeywell Aerospace Yeovil to supply pressure transducers for the Eurofighter. The sensors will be used to measure fuel and oil pressure in the aircraft's auxiliary power unit.

The approval follows a buy out of the Schaevitz pressure and displacement sensor lines by the Watford-based Polaron group in 2002.

The sensors are based on a novel mechanical design, making them extremely rugged and ensuring high reliability.

"The approval process included a demanding appraisal of our quality and validation procedures," said Steve Couchman, Polaron Schaevitz's managing director.

Each of the supersonic multi-role aircraft, known operationally as the Typhoon, incorporates four Schaevitz transducers: three pressure type and one differential pressure type.

"This approval by Honeywell demonstrates the benefits of strong company backing," stated Polaron's chief executive Joe Stelzer. "Schaevitz has a well-respected pedigree and we are delighted to be giving it the resources to thrive in an increasingly demanding marketplace."
