[55,000 PCs must be purchased and installed into the NHS by 31st March 2004 to meet the Government’sstaff-to-PC ratio target of 2:1]

Centerprise International, the UK’s largest manufacturer of custom-built PCs, has been named by the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (PASA) as one of the three PC giants “accredited” to deliver 55,000 PCs to the NHS in just six months as part of the National Programme for IT. With the capacity to manufacture 10,000 units per day at its Basingstoke and Caerphilly plants and a steadfast reputation for delivering large scale IT projects within the public sector, Centerprise is set to play a significant role in helping the Department of Health realise its ambitious staff-to-PC ratio of just 2:1.

“With a bedrock of financial strength and 12 year’ sexperience working hand-in-hand with the MoD, Local Education Authorities and County Councils, Centerprise has the track record and stability to meet the NHS’srequirements” commented Rafi Razzak, Founder and Chairman of Centerprise International. “Already NHS Cat-approved, this latest accreditation re-affirms Centerprise’saptitude in the provision of PCs to the healthcare sector. We look forward to providing IT Directors and Managers in the NHS with a quality of build and level of support that surpasses their expectations.”

Thanks to the national programme, hospitals, Primary Care Trusts and specialist clinics across the country will receive a welcome cash injection to purchase much-needed IT equipment. PASA has already written to all 28 Strategic Health Authorities stressing the importance of urgent action and encouraging them to use the allocated funds to place orders with one of the three accredited PC manufacturers within the next 30 days.

Centerprise has had three desktop PCs and one laptop accredited under the scheme:

1. The Centerprise NHS Desktop PC -featuring an Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, a 15”flat panel TFT monitor and an integrated SmartCard reader.

2. The Centerprise NHS Mini-Tower PC -offers the same specification in Mini-Tower format.

3. The Centerprise NHS Small Space Desktop PC -using the same components as the Desktop and Mini-Tower, but in a small form factor space-saving chassis.

4. The Centerprise NHS Laptop -offers an Intel Pentium 4 2.0GHZ processor, 14,1”TFT display and an internal SmartCard reader.

All of the Centerprise NHS Systems will ship pre-loaded with Microsoft XP Professional under the NHS Microsoft Agreement. Centerprise is also offering a customer-specific image loading and asset tagging service to ensure that Health Authority systems arrive ready to run with the customer’sown software applications and settings pre-loaded.

All three models combine value for money with a build quality that is second to none. The desktops feature Intel motherboards with Intel 845 chipsets. Smart Cards -which were a mandatory requirement for accreditation and offer secure login access -are integrated into the body of the machines, offering a more robust solution than the keyboard-based add-ons also available on the market.

Centerprise will make full use of its nationwide network of full-time engineers to provide an install-to-desk’sservice, in which the PC is not only delivered but also unpacked and installed ready for immediate use. Centerprise’scourteous engineers will even take the packaging away with them and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner.
