Olympia, October 15: Leading storage vendor Snap Appliance has chosen Ideal’s Advice Zone at Storage Expo 2003 for the first public viewing of its new Snap Disk 10 expansion array.

The new array has been designed to take advantage of the architecture and performance of the award-winning Snap Server 4500. The combination offers simple scalable cross platform storage for file sharing and back up in data intensive industries. It offers users the ability to scale their storage capacity without the expense of buying additional servers.

What is the Snap Disk 10?

The Snap Disk 10 is a 1U rack-mountable storage expansion array that provides scalability to the award-winning Snap Server 4500. It contains four hot-swappable ATA disk drives, one power connector, and a single interface for connecting to the host Snap Server 4500.

Up to two Snap Disk 10 arrays can be added to a single Snap Server 4500 offering up to 3 TB of native capacity. The Snap Disk 10 works with every Snap Server 4500 regardless of capacity. The Snap Disk 10 was specifically designed to take advantage of the architecture and performance of the Snap Server 4500.

Ideal, one of the key sponsors of Storage Expo event, at Olympia on October 15 and 16, is hosting the Advice Zone, a forum where delegates can meet vendor, distributor and reseller storage experts, view presentations and see the latest technology.

“Being part of the Ideal Advice Zone has been very useful for us,” says James Stewart, VP of International Sales with Snap Appliance. “It’s the perfect place for the first public view of the Snap Disk 10. There’s a lot of major end user companies here, and the Snap Disk 10 is perfect for that type of environment.”

Stewart added “Today’s announcement is the first step in our drive up into the enterprise. Expect more important announcements soon.”
